KFA2 Intros GeForce GTX 480 ''Anarchy'' Graphics Card

Galaxy's brand for the European market, KFA2, released the GeForce GTX 480 "Anarchy" graphics card. Based on Galaxy's own PCB design, the card makes use of Arctic's expertise, with an Accelero Xtreme Pro triple-fan GPU cooler. To top it up, it also uses overclocked speeds out of the box, that's 760 MHz (core), 1520 MHz CUDA core, and 900 (3800 effective) MHz memory. Like every other GTX 480, it packs 480 CUDA cores, and 1536 MB of memory over a 384-bit GDDR5 memory interface. Display connectivity include two DVI and a mini-HDMI. The company did not give out a price yet.

I believe the operating temperature for the GTX480 is 90C because the fan will not get any faster once the card reach that point. The fan speed will be kept as slow as possible as long as the temp is not over 90C. So you can say it was made to run THAT hot.

yeah given they are safe to 105 degrees, and Nvidia themselves have said it was designed to run hot, it looks like they went for a combination of high temps and lower fan speed. also all my friends that have GTX480's have said normal gaming situations don't get close to 90 degrees, more like 75.

Well that depends a lot on your room temperature; now my card idles at 46c and when gaming won't past 87c (with most of the games it peaks at 84c), room temp is 22c, the fan goes up to 62%, all this with everything at stock; if I undervolt it it peaks at 82c and the fan won't past 59%

There's no sugar coating it, i just bought a GTX460 and I'm shocked at these temperature, nothing else in my system not even the motherboard VRMs gets this hot, not to mention it sounds like a blow dryer, and AMD is no better, we're in dire need of a die shrink.

which GTX460 do you have? a reference on non-reference card?

as far as I'm aware the only loud/hot ones are Palit non-reference cards which are shorter than normal, and have a loud small fan. load temps are something like 75 degrees.

Sounds like your problems run further than the cards. If a GTX 460 and any newer AMD card are getting that hot, you must have poor case cooling or something else. My 460 folding 24/7 doesn't go above 43c with the fan set to 55%. I can't hear the fan over my other case fans.

I would have to agree with you on theGTX460's temps, my friend has just bought two Gainward GS GLH GTX460's and they run very hot, up to 94c and do sound like hair dryers. As for AMD well i have the 4870X2 it is a hair dryer but it wont get near 80c.

Not all 460s are created equal, sell those and get stock cooler version or Gigabyte one. Mine stays under 70C and is silent.

As for OP, still no Accelero reviews yet, but based on past experience no way will this go to 90C. Those coolers will sell nicely and these that come with it stock should too.

Even for Nvidia fan there is NO reason to buy any new card now, since 6XXX radeon will be released very soon and every thinking person should to hold his own money and wait for the first 6XXX gaming tests.

Just read the Guru3D review where this card Oc's to 900mhz core 1800mhz mem 4120mhz memory (overvolved core) and sits at around 65 degrees under full load.

absolutely amazing, 20-25% more performance than a stock GTX480, which by itself is one freakin' mean GPU. two of these, at those speeds, in SLi would be one cranking setup.

Yeah newtekie1 did a great review on that card right here in the forums, it's basically loud because the blower itself is half the thickness of the cooler, so it has to spin up quite fast/loud to get good airflow going. reading his review is well worth your time.
