AOC Europe added two new full-HD (1920 x 1080) monitors to its lineup, the WLED backlit e2240Vwa (21.5") and e2440Vwa (24"). The displays sport a transparent bordering on the bezel, and feature nature-inspired motifs on the stand and back. Since there's no CCFL, the heat output is lower, and so lower number of vents. The power consumption is also lower, nearly half that of CCFL-illuminated flat-panels of the same size. Apart from its resolution, the panels feature 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 250 cd/m² brightness, 5 ms response time, and display connectors that include DVI and D-Sub. Prices are yet to be announced.

Oh the sillyness, now it's 20M to 1, thought 8M to 1 was already pushing it. Sad that 19,999,000:1 of that contrast ratio is unusable, as the real contrast ratio is still under 1000:1.

On the upside, I like those plantstemfigures on the base and back :)

I would love to see a comparison between this, the NEC LED display, and a Dell G2410.

WLEDs are special white light LED's. The jury is out as to whether they are (always) better. One limitation is that changing the colour-temperature isnt as easy as when mixing RGB LEDs. On the other hand, WLEDs are supposed to give a broader spectrum white than the RGB mix.

It's the dynamic contrast ratio, so don't read too much into it. ;)
