How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

3rd patch tested with 258.96 under win7 x64, confirmed! More testing to follow. I need a version that works with xp64, this one doesn't.
More games tested, still working. I really need a version to test under xp64 though....

You'll need to wait until the SLIPatch is updated, so the driver can't detect the kernel changes anymore.
I wouldn't expect a ForceWare patch for XP32/64 since it's a completely different driver and almost all the work that lead to the current patch would have to be redone.

Well, hopefully soon. Just ran fear2 for a long stretch. Looks like the patch works for win7 64.
Edit: I'm impressed with this new sli hack. I'm seeing 100% scaling even in older games. Thank gawd because win7 is a pig.....sign of the cross....

Btw, we are in need of volunteers to translate HOWTO to their native language. Now we have articles in english and russian.

Count me in for a translation to portuguese!

Hello,

I am very new here, my first post =) You guys have done an amazing job with the SLi patch and bucket loads of thanks for that!

I've downloaded the following files and are now waiting for my second GTX 460 to arrive.

Just a question, pardon me as i am a noob ;-) i have the following files, what is the sequence should i run them?

a) SLIPatch 0.8 Win7 x64 beta.zip
b) ModdedForceWare258_96_B3.RAR

Based on what i've read, i should run (a) first, reboot. And then run (b)? Truly appreciate more details :toast:

This is my current system setup:

X6 1055T
Asus M4A89TD PRO USB3
GSkill Ripjaws 1600 2GB x 2
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB OC (on 258.96 driver)
Games to run - SC2, COD MW2, BC2, Transformers WFC

Once again, thanks for the great work!

I'd recommend that very much, but the order doesn't really matter.
The patched ForceWare driver can run without the SLIPatch; it just prevents the driver from randomly locking up the system when it detects the SLIPatch.

Hi Arisu,

Thanks for the swift response.
i will try it out in a couple days and report my findings. I plan to run the games as well as 3dmark vantage to verify the SLi success.

May i conclude that i will need only the 2 files downloaded(patched forceware and SLiPatch) and nothing else?

Will be building 2 more installs of xp64 tomorrow, I would be happy to test anything out to get this patch working under it as well. I'm hoping to have my G500 mouse tomorrow, so I need to seriously frag sum sh*t!!!

Yes, it should work with just these two files. At least that's how I and many others in this thread are successfully running SLI on CrossFire boards right now :).
But if anything happens to come up, you're very welcome to ask, of course.

press F8 then select "Disable Automatic Restart On System Failure" worked for me when the same was happening.

First I would like to say thank you for all your hard work on getting the 258+ drivers working nicely with SLI. Second I would like to share the issues I am having with this.

Desktop environment is fine and I can play all games with SLI enabled perfectly. Things mess up when I enable NVSurround to span my display across 3 monitors. In NVSurround the desktop works fine no BSOD's or any crash's of any sort. When I try to play ANY game I lose video on all three screens and have to reboot.

My specs are as follows:
Asus P5Q-E
Intel Q6600 @ 3GHz
6GB DDR2 1066 MHz RAM
2x ZOTAC GTX 460 1GB
SLI-Bridge
750w ULTRA PSU

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
SLIPatch .8b
260.63 drivers w/ ForceWare x64 SLI Patch v1.1

I've also tried 258.96 w/ ModdedForceWare258_96_B3

and the issue remains.

Thanks, Jon

I'm afraid I don't have a solution on hand, but there are two things:

1. When your video is lost, try to press your Numlock key. Does it still react, i.e. turn on and off?
2. Try to temporarily use the unmodified driver and see if it still happens. If it does, we can at least rule out that the modified ForceWare is causing this.

when i press the sli patch in boot menu it will start in windows bootup repair how can i get this work please help

you have it on dual boot or triple boot with other OS? if so you will have to unplug other drives and then use sli patch.

i had this 20 posts back and figures it out myself
