There is a bigger difference (TFLOPS) between 6750 - 6770 than 5750 - 5770 had , same as the 5850- 5870 series , if 6850 and 6870 going to have the same increment , 6870 is going to have some serious power.

Speculations of ATI 6000 just being a cheap rebrand are clearly not in any ground anymore , it's a well used time and effort put into the existing technology and optimizing , updating and upgrading so they can make quite good product out of it. And if you don't recally , this is not the same core , it's a 40nm hybrid , it has a totally new part in the GPU , so it's a good GPU Ugrade too.

It shows you how nvidia always played dirty and .. masses never realized it thanks to marketing.

Not sure if this was confirmed elsewhere, but thinkq has confirmation that the new cards are releasing in October as originally planned. Apparently digitimes said they were delayed, but this article (released an hour ago) debunks that. Yay for us!!!

If Barts is suppose to run against GTX 460 (1gb version I believe) as rumors suggest then I'm expecting a price at $200 mark at launch.

So can anyone explain what kind of cards are we getting and roughly when? You are speaking about some different codenames and it is confusing. But from the sounds of it the high end models will not come first.

Barts (6750 6770) in October, Cayman (6850 6870) in November and Antilles (Dual GPU Cayman) Before Christmas. Or so "they" say...

Indeed, i'm not sure where the rebrand idea came from anyway. ATi (when they first started designing the hd4 series, hence why they've come back swinging after hd2/3) have always been strict about getting a product taped out and in the first stages of production before the generation before it even appeared on store shelves. They didn't know fermi would be nvidias hd2 series, so they wouldn't have held back on the hd6 designs. Plus by the time fermi appeared, the hd6 series was likely in the tweaking stage.

Basically, it would have been more effort for AMD to rebrand for the hd6 series!

Begs the question about nvidia though, although maybe they just diverted efforts into making the big fat gtx2 series when they saw the hd2 series.

I am also thinking about buying a 32inch full hd tv before i upgrade to the 6 series. Not much sense in running a 6 series on a 22inch 1680*1050 resolution.

hmm i think 3D eyefinity will give you migrant or headache especially at that insane resolution.

yeah i hope cayman can live it expectation, i lovveeee to set up eyefinity with just single GPU because TBH i don't really like CFX/SLI its too spotty.

ATI won't use shudder glasses like nVidia does. Though that is mostly due to patents nVidia has but side effect is that ATI won't go that direction so shouldn't have those problems with ATI setup.

go and play your wii and super smash brother with 20fps.....

frame rate means everything, not just feature rich. if i choose a card i would choose a card that runs 500+fps on mid resolution despite my eye don't see the difference. you people always nagging about how 30fps is good enough for human eye!! blah blah blah or Gameplay is much more important than graphic!. that's the reason why i hate console gamer like you here.

UH gameplay is more important than graphics example crysis was the most medicoure shooter ive ever seen Metro 2033 had a good story but its entire stealth / silenced weapons gameplay is 100% broken. great graphics are nice but if the game fucking sucks graphics arent worth shit

i dont see the reason why EVERYONE keep criticizing crysis and metro2033....they seem to be fine to me....at some part they are actually way better than modern warfare and bad company or game like avp...just don't get it why people hate these two that much..because of weapon setting? you aint even work at military before why do you criticize it when you never hold a gun in your life????

uh lets see shitty gameplay no real replay value it looks pretty but it isnt innovative its a typical FPS same with metro 2033 then again so is COD and Bad Company 2 no one plays that for single player its the multiplayer. fact of the matter is under the awesome graphics its more of the same crap. thats why ppl criticize it the weapons in crysis are awesome they handle nicely but i need more then shiny weapons etc. I need replay value customization, good story decent difficulty to make it a challenge, most FPS games the last few years arent all that great most of them havent done anything new to exciting really or if they have regular gameplay is atrocious.

You have a very interesting point, i completely agree with the gist of it but disagree on the reason. I think you can have the SAME gameplay and have it be awesome, as long as its well done -i.e. thrilling, rewarding, and just overall fun to play. A good example is Serious Sam - great game, fun as hell, hard as hell, basic as hell. After every level you think back and say "what the hell was THAT!?!"

Quake 4 is another great example, play it if you haven't, it has phenominal single player, even though its on rails and basic. Chronicles of Riddick, etc etc.

I totally agree with you on metro 2033 and crysis. Horrible gameplay. But I feel its essentially bad execution, bad balance and overall boringness on the part of the developers causes that RATHER THAN the lack of something new, in fact i think they f*cked up the old so bad that even if you gave the main character superpowers (oh wait crysis), the games would still suck.

when i say regurgitated i base it on the following im a single guy i run through a lvl i shoot everything end lvl or... i run through a lvl with ai squad mates that cant hit the broadside of a barn and there only use is to absorb bullets. Or whatever that game was that u could shoot the ground and transform the terrain in real time to get through lvls etc great concept but aiming and shooting aspect of that game was horrible last game i played that offered me something new was Red Faction the original it was semi difficult at higher settings and the geo mod tech was new at the time u could throw mines on ppl and they would run and scream etc etc. Overall i dont blame the core of FPS mechanics for shitty gameplay what i blame is the fact that after 10 years they still cant improve aiming on consoles examples of this failure are Killzone Killzone 2 as the most blatant i dont mind more of the same but if you cant even do it RIGHT by standards set 10 years ago they shouldnt even try and we are extremely off topic
