GELID Introduces Icy Vision Rev. 2 Cooler, Supports GeForce GTX 460 and GTS 450 GPUs

Thermal Solutions specialist GELID Solutions has launched the 2nd revision of its multi-award winning VGA Cooler "ICY VISION" of its GAMER product line. In comparison to the previous edition the "2nd rev. of ICY VISION" is now compatible to NVIDIA's promising GTS 450 & GTX 460 card. The "Rev. 2 ICY VISION" cooler contains 5 power heatpipes in a unique heatpipe constellation. The heatpipes are interlaced into 85 optimized high-quality Aluminium fins. Together with a flat stack fin soldered Copper base, they enable the most efficient heat transmission and dissipation from GPU core in its class.

Besides the heatsink, two 92mm UV-reactive fans with 11 blades in S-shape generate 20% more air flow than traditional fans. The fan contains a high-quality ball bearing to ensure a longer lifetime in high temperature environments. The "Rev. 2 ICY VISION" is both CrossFire and SLI compatible on a number of cards. Screws were optimized to enable a proper SLI in the 2nd revision. To ensure a better cooling more RAM and Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) heatsinks are created to cool down the components around the GPU. The high performance GC-2 thermal compound is also included in the package.



The "Rev. 2 ICY VISION" VGA cooler is available now and has a MSRP of USD 55 or Euro 46. This cooler is RoHS, WEEE conformed and carries a 5 year warranty.

I disagree with you.

You see these cards are so damn noisy compared to the previous 200 series. I've two GTX 460, one of them has a faulty fan which sounds like a jet engine and the other doesn't have the same sound but it's still noisy.

If this cooler is not as noisy as the reference design coolers then I may consider buying one or two.

It still looks like it takes up 3 slots with fans installed. Sigh..... Scythe has the right idea! We need more coolers designed with closer PCIe slots in mind!

Interesting, HD5850 with reference cooler is perfectly silent even under heavy load. And that's in my uATX case where the fan is almost sticking out of the mesh side and every noise change is noticeable.
In normal case i'm sure i wouldn't be able to hear it. Are GTS 450 and GTX 460 really that noisy?

no, not by default (for most models), but if you overclock than temps go up and so does the fan speed and hence the noise

All the aftermarket fans that are worth buying take up 3 slots. It's just so much easier b/c thicker fans give you better cfm and static pressure for the size and speed. The only instance where I've seen a slim fan work is w/ MSI's twin frozr design and Gigabyte's dual fan design (which is like a carbon copy of MSI's twin frozr).

No thanks. I haven't come across a noisy GTX 460, and I certainly don't need to convert the video card into a three-slot product.
