The problem is USA companies. Due to the USA legislation, US companies are not allowed to deal with companies based in Iran, or doing business with Iran. By naming the Iranian team 'middle-east', GIGABYTE actually gives Iranian overclockers the possibility to participate in the competition.

If it would be Iran in a GBT competition, companies like Intel, Nvidia and AMD would cut them off, or at least would be charging a lot more. I don't think any mainboard/videocard manufacturer can take that risk.

GO OC hosts qualifiers all over the world. It is quite an event I can definitely recommend going to anyone that are interested in OCing.
