theoneandonlymrk. I had the same issue as other users too. Have you used Driver Sweeper? It's driver sweeper + net framework problems usually. I spend whole night few months ago with installing driver and only reinstall of Windows solved that problem.

no just tried to over install as i usually do, i got some of the drivers manually from the extracted files but not all and i too had to fresh install after using sweeper on my physx card gt240 it just would not play ball ta all 1st fresh in a year not good

I took the easy way out, i used a buy now pay in 9 months offer so if the 6970 is way more powerful than overclocked 6870 crossfire i will have the cash to buy one but this is mainly as i just could not wait any longer.
I have had the itch to upgrade my gpu for over a year now so i just could not take it anymore if you have some self control i would say wait, if you don't like the idea of selling off your old hardware you will probably be much better off getting a 6970 and if you want to another later on.

Man forget this, i am seriously going to buy a 6850, i swear haha. Just waiting for the price to drop a bit and i will order one. You only need one 6 pin and the card is better than a 5670 and a 5750 and a 5770, well damn, might as well buy it.

I'm looking for a safe and clear way to do it. Or for a modified, clean cat driver.

This thread discusses it but I'm not sure their way works.

Im very interested to see if MLAA actually works because i installed the 10.10a hotfix and my cat did not change.

Do a registry search for MLF_NA and change it from 1 to 0 than log off and back on again.

after looking into those links a bit I am super duper keen to see if I can get MLAA working on my mobility 5650, it sounds like just the thing I need to have cheap AA and maximise on the other video settings.

keep digging mate, I'm sure we'll have a process to get it working in no time.

Bored of having no rig, so pay day I'm going to buy one of these a new psu, mobo and cpu and then get 5970 when it's out and bulldozer when that's out.

How does 1055t + any decent mobo + 5870 sound for a rig to tide me over? XD

Nah, physically 6850 and 6870 cores are identical. The crippled units are disabled via BIOS or fuses. Cutting as in "laser cutting" is a huge missnomer.

W1zz said himself, you won't be able to do it on retail cards. If you don't believe the almighty W1zzard, then, well, you need to visit TPU more often

Keep an eye on threads to see if anybody is able to successfully do it. I highly doubt there will be an easy way to go out and find a certain brand of 6850 and flash to 6870. They're not physically identical cards, and they even have a difference in power connectors.
