The procedure you are suggesting is very simple and exactly what I did.

It just works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. Thanks for trying anyway.

Hmm, you could go to C:\...\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE and place:
manifest.bin
manifest.xml
profile.xml
and anything else in the trash bin. Next open the Profiles subfolder and delete your created profiles. Next open up Task Manager and end process for Mom.exe. Afterwards open up CCC and try to create a profile.

Hey I'm curious aobut a couple things re. this and I figure this is a good a thread as any to ask. I am specifically talking about settings enabled via Von tweaks but it's the same source--registry settings. With the things like the High Quality AF checkbox that you don't see anymore without Von--haven't they been disabled by AMD for a reason? Is it perhaps deprectated and doesn't do anything anymore? Though if that were the case I would think Von wouldn't bother with those either. Though they are still in the registry too obviously also for a reason, one would think...

Features like HQ AF, etc are already set to enabled on most current video cards so there is no need to see it in CCC. Although one can change that so it shows in CCC there really is no benefit having it there.

Edit:
BTW, xsever have you installed AMD's new MS VC +++2010? You can check your uninstall section of win7 to see if it's there. It's called Microsoft Visual C+++ 2010...
If it's not there you can go to ATI\Support\11-2_vista_win7_dd_ccc_enu\Packages\Apps\VC10RTx86\vcredist_\setup.exe. Just click on setup.exe to install it.

I already have VC 2010 installed.

I went ahead and delete the files you mentioned and created new ones and the problem is still here.

The presets are very very very very buggy! I go in, adjust my settings and save a preset. Then adjust for another preset and save it. I click on each preset and nothing changes. Sometimes things change but that is rare.

It's just not working, very buggy, and pathetic.

Should I make a new thread about and then we can go at it from there?

I suggest that you download Catalyst Software Suite with APP removed (if you hadn't earlier). Do a full uninstall using ATI Catalyst Install Manager. Don't use any 3rd party uninstall programs. Also uninstall any 3rd party overclocking apps or any application related to tweaking your card. Reboot. And install that driver.

What features/capabilities will I be loosing by installing a driver with APP removed.

I get that APP=Accelerated Parallel Processing, but does that mean Flash 10.2 and Chrome (which supports GPU hardware acceleration) won't be able to use GPGPU capabilities of my 5770?

I am trying to understand the link between APP and the problem I am facing.

Ok. One other I noticed that I don't have by default is for AA instead of just "Application Controlled" or not there was a menu with "App Controlled, Override App Setting or Enhance App Setting" like NV does...

I specified the other driver to see if that resolves the issues you are having. You should still be able to use GPU accelerated video with it when using FF/Chrome unless you have a specific GPGPU need for it. In that case this will be trial and error to see if the other driver works or not.

Yup, that's their new standard for customize control. That is the result of using EQAA I believe. If you disable that via registry you should see the normal format.

Ok; I don't have by default at least with 11.2. This is an old worn and torn Windows install which is about to wiped which may have something to do with it.

So I installed 11.2 with APP removed and it's still very buggy.

In a preset, it's either the AMD Overdrive settings that get dropped or the 3D settings. The preset can never hold the two settings at the same time. What a shame!

What do you think?

HD5770 but no tesselation option

Hey guys,

I stumbled here via google because I have a very similar problem.
I own a HD5770 but I don't have the tesselation option under driver version 11.2.
Since you guys really seem to know how to deal with this problem, I hope that someone here may help me.

First all the facts:
- Windows 7, 64 bit
- ati driver version 11.2

I have the morphological filtering option but not the tesselation slider. I went to the location in the registry as was explained in the thread here (didn't have the problem with keys like 0001, 0002 etc.) and saw that I simply don't have a Tessellation_NA key... I created one right in 0000, made it string and gave it a value of 0 but that didn't change anything.
Under 0000\UMD I have Tessellation_DEF = 64 and Tessellation_OPTION_DEF = 0. (i tried setting option_def to 1 but that didn't change anything).

I just deinstalled 11.2 and reinstalled it but that also didn't change anything.
Now I am out of ideas and hope that you folks may help me... (and sorry for my not-perfect english, I am not a native speaker)

EDIT: I have never used any tweaks, registry hacks or additional software (at least as far as I can remember).

Yours,
Mike

Hello Mike.

You English is fine so do not worry. Please fill in the section in your profile about your system so that we know what kind of hardware are you running.

As for your problem, I would do exactly what you have done. EastCoasthandle should be able to help you. If he does not reply here soon, send him a PM and point him to this.

EastCoastHandle suggested to install the 11.4 preview which I did. Unfortunately this didn't help me at all. The registry key and the tessellation slider are still missing in the options... Anyone got any more ideas?

Something I can add to this.

When I installed 11.4, the options were missing from CCC. I had to go back into the registry and re-apply the tweaks.

I was wondering maybe if I can take a screenshot of that part of the registry, and then you can compare it with yours. Maybe there are other keys/strings missing.

Open up CCC and check out Software Information. There next to 2d File Path is the registry location of all CCC. Open up regedit and take screenshots of: /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet00X/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/000X and /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet00X/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/000X/UMD (X represents the number that corresponds to your registry as it can differ. For information on what I'm talking about take a look at the pic(s) in this post. Then post them. I need to see what's there.

You have to ask AMD why that is happening. If the card is able to support the features and it's not being installed there is either a install glitch they need to address or provide an explanation as to why it's happening. IE: Do they want you to have those features on a 5770 based on your setup, etc.

EDIT: That was not how exactly I wanted my screenshots to appear (I am new to using forums ;) but it should suffice. I just added Tessellation_NA to the 0000 path and set it to 0 which changed nothing... :/

Ok, I want you to concentrate on the .../UMD/ subkey which is the last pic in your post (UMD is highlighted). There you will find that you already have tessellation_def and tessellations_option_def. This is the sub key I want you to input the following strings and binaries: (from this thread):
Make sure you select the right option. Just right click near an open area of Tessellation_DEF (just a guide to show you what to do). And select New then choose either String or Binary.

Right click, select new, select binary value and enter: Tessellation. Then right click on Tessellation, select modify. Enter: 32 00
Right click, select new, select string value and enter: Tessellation_DEF. Then right click on Tessellation_DEF, select modify. Enter: 64
Right click, select new, select binary value and enter: Tessellation_OPTION. Then right click on Tessellation_OPTION, select modify. Enter: 30 00
Right click, select new, select string value and enter: Tessellation_OPTION_DEF. Then right click on Tessellation_OPTION_DEF, select modify. Enter: 0
Right click, select new, select binary value and enter: Tessellation_SET. Then right click on Tessellation_SET, select modify. Enter: 31,20,32,20,34,20,36,20,38,20,31,36,20,33,32,20,36 ,34,00 (Be careful and triple check to make sure that the numbers are entered in correct order. You don't need to add any spaces or commas. Just type them as you see them)

Then I want you to open up task manager. Navigate tab over to processes and I want you to right click and end process for Mom.exe. Next click on File and select New Task (Run...) and enter Mom.exe. Open up CCC and see if tessellation is there.

yaaay

haha, that did the trick!
Although I still don't understand why ATI doesn't want me to use that feature... possible explanation may be that my CPU and my graphics card somehow get recognized at not being pretty fast (at least not anymore) and therefore not allowing me to use the setting...?

EastCoastHandle, thank you very much for taking the time to help me. I owe you one.

No problem. Go to AMD forum and tell them that you are installing their drivers but you are missing tessellation features (don't be long winded and diatribe by telling them that a user in another forum helped you to get it working). Make sure you include system specs/OS/etc. It maybe something they need to fix but I really don't know what's going on. Perhaps there is something about your registry preventing you from getting it. For example, you didn't properly uninstall drivers when replacing one video card for another, etc. But that's just a guess.

In any case they may ask for specific information so make sure you save those pics you posted here.

@EastCoasthandle

The 11.2 driver highlighted that these features will be available for 5xxx series cards without any exception.

I just think it is an installation problem since other 5770 users had no problem at all.
