Is it worth the upgrade if SLi is not an option for you?
Hey guys, recently upgraded from a 460 to 570 so I've run them both through some paces and knocked up some graphs to show how they compare against eachother
Tests were done with both cards at stock speeds (note both are factory overclocked, but I have used Nvidia reference speeds as stock) and at my highest attainable rock stable overclock for both, details as follows.

Well to wrap it all off, naturally the GTX570 is considerably faster than a GTX460. when comparing at reference speeds, you can expect a GTX570 to be anywhere between 50-70% faster than a GTX460. this figure will probably sit closer to 50% given the sheer amount of pre overclocked GTX460's that were available at the time. if you took the time to tweak your GTX460 to around 850-900+ mhz on the core, a stock GTX570 will only represent around ~30% more performance.
Things quickly turn around in favor of the GTX570 when you begin to overclock it. the overclocked GTX570 weighed in 80-110% faster than a stock GTX460, as good as double. even if your GTX460 was highly overclocked as mine is, a nicely overclocked GTX570 will still represent around 50% more performance on the whole, which is a lot of GPU power alright.
I feel this really goes to show that a hec of a lot of extra performance can be had from overclocking your gfx card (thank you MSI Afterburner). on average the GTX460 picked up about ~30% more performance, pushing it right up to GTX560Ti levels, not bad for a couple of hours work - sometimes not even. the GTX570 also gains very well from overclocking, boasting a nice 20-25% more performance, pushing it right up to GTX580 territory for a lot less money.
If you are overclocking your gfx cards, I urge you to be patient, and keep in mind that every single card overclocks to a different extent. Once you find the absolute maximum that the card can stably benchmark and run all of your favorite games at, back the speed down at least 10mhz (I recommend about 25mhz or so) to ensure stability and longevity. this applies to both core and memory speeds, nobody likes a dead card.

P.S. Yes I love Gigabyte non reference (ultra durable) cards! they run cool and use great components, whats not to like! every one I've had so far (ATi cards inclusive) have all overclocked great too. the best part about it is Gigabyte charge hardly any premium over a reference card.
