Prepaid smartphones?

So I'm on the market for a new phone. I was talked into getting a smart phone from Verizon, but I don't want to be bond be a 2 year contract. I'm wondering whats the best prepaid smartphone on the market now? 3G is a must. I've been looking at Virgin Mobile and they have some nice phones that I believe have 3G access. I have 14 days to take the Verizon one back and that's what I think I'm gonna do. I'm still stuck with the bill, but it not too bad. Any help what be great.

Oh, I have most of the major carries in my area if that helps.

Yea I did same thing. Tired of contracts I went with this phone and am happy with it so far. Plus everything unlimited.

You're stuck with paying the bill for two years, or just the first months bill?

I'm not sure about where you live, but Sprint / Boost / Nextel (same company) offers really nice phones that you can buy for pre-paid use. I don't know if they still use the name Boost Mobile, but that was Sprint's pay as you go branding. You can buy whatever phone you want for full price OR get an unlocked phone on craigslist or ebay and just take it to a provider who offers pay as you go.

Make sure the phone will be compatible though.

(you will get the best price if you buy an unlocked/slightly used phone from CL or Ebay. It's the way to go.)

well i know straight talk offers smartphones for $150-$180 with no contracts etc just $40-45 a month i think for unlimited talk text and web usage. i just got a cheap ass $90 phone and use the $30 card never do manage to use all 1000 minutes texts or 30mb of web usage.

Yea thats who I went with straight talk. The phone above is there newest one out. Its 45 a month unlimited everything.

I was charged the first two months. I just got a new job so I can handle it, but the work it kinda/not really spotty. I do homehealth and multiple people had to lose their jobs for me to work. It was their fault for not being certified and I am, but you never know. The client could just want a change and I'm stuck with 2 years of verizon

The Moto Triumph with Virgin is a nice phone. I am planning to switch to Virgin when my current Verizon contract is up because it's too expensive and now they have a ridiculous data cap too. Only real issue I see with Virgin is there is no roaming outside the Sprint network at all, which means spotty services outside metro areas and interstate corridors.

Get virgin mobile. I pay about $22 a month for service. I get all of my refill cards on ebay for less than face value. Yes the price did go up for new subscribers but still a good deal at $35 a month for unlimited text and data w/ 300 min.

Get the moto triumph or a cheap second hand optimus v and install cm7 on it. Phone sucks with stock software but its pretty good when rooted w custom software. (its what I have)

Home health is basically helping people at home that can't help themselves. If you've seen how nurses or aides help patients in the hospital, I just do it for them at home. Its a quickly growing field now.

Oh, recently is was passed so one has to be a CNA now. Huge demand for men also.

That's what I plan to do. That's the exact phone I'm looking at. I hope they don't give me a hard time. This plan now is $90. It looks like I can get unlimited everything for $55 or $60 with virgin mobile, but the coverage is very spotty like u said. I think that includes 3g.

Also can anyone verify that you get access to 3g?

I did some research and it is unlimited everything, including 3g. I'm canceling this asap and going to them. The only thing I'll miss is having decent coverage everywhere

Just so you are aware there is a 2.5gb softcap on data each month. You will still recieve 3g service after 2.5gbs but it will be at throttled speeds.

thanks, that doesn't really bother me. Dude was telling me its hard to use over 2 gigs on a mobile phone anyways. Where did u learn that?

If the 2yr contract wasn't a concern, I would head over to sprint and cash in on the free Nexus S 4G with their unlimited everything plan EDIT: Or at least an unlimited data plan, I myself can use more than 2GB ALTHOUGH i do alot of custom rom downloading, app downloading, netflix streaming & now NFL Sunday ticket to go some of which on wifi.

Ive had a Boost Mobile Samsung Galaxy for a few months now. Very happy with it. Its all owned by Sprint anyway. I was tired of the constant price hikes with the contract phones. Actualy my payment drops next month $5. Im on the unlimited plan that drops every six months of payments.

I have been using virgin mobile for about 7 months now, I get good service everywhere except when I leave town (but when I leave town its just rolling hills filled with wheat fields for miles and miles.) Anyways about a month ago I got couple texts and emails stating they were switching to a softcap. No big deal for $25 a month, I don't use that much data unless I tether which isn't that often. I plan on sticking with virgin mobile until I marry my gf then we will probably switch to some family plan, but thats about a year and a half away.

As for phones, I currently have the optimus v. Great phone if you root and instal a variant of CM7. I do however plan on switching to the Moto Triumph once the prices drop and a CM7 port matures.

Some carriers do in the US (AT&T and T-Mobile but other carriers like Verizon, Sprint/Virgin Mobile don't)

Really, I don't want to sound rude but what else could it have been than healthcare at home? Especially mentioning certification should have made that clear. [sarcasm]Or is homehealth something that only exists in the USA since Obama became pres?[/sarcasm]
Actually, my sister is born with the aid of a maternity nurse who is/was helping with child births that way (home health). I was not AFAIK, but that was mainly because I was known as a rather stubborn foetus and did not seems to position myself properly in my mom's womb so just in case my parents opted in for hospital birth instead (still the natural way, though, not with a sectio caesarea (even though my mom still needed some stitches)). And I think that one of my sister's former high school friends is actually a home health nurse as well (though in a different field than births, I forgot which one exactly).

Edit: to be more ontopic, check whether there is a "sim-only" type of service in your country, which makes it posible to switch phones if you want/need and gives a cheaper service subscription as well (without the prepaid drawbacks of having to "refresh" your stack of usable calling time/ text messages).
