As if these APUs werent awesome enough. My A8-3850 idles at around 10-15C, 30-40C on load, 70C while running minecraft(Lol?? Not kidding!). Overclocking this a little bit ought to use up some of that heat headroom in exchange for some awesome performance increases. AMD has a great product on their hands. I believe that they should straight up quit on the low-end CPUs and only make APUs and socket FM1 CPUs. Everything FM1 so far has blown my socks off. The Athlon II X4 (FM1) outperforms the best AM3 one by about 15% and costs like 2/3.
Seeing as everything FM1 so far has been locked, it should be interesting to see an unlocked CPU for this socket. I see no reason not to get one of these, since its like $5 more than the 3850 and clocked higher. That is, if the 3850 doesnt drop in price.
Edit: For anyone looking for extreme performance, wait for the A10-5800 this spring or the A10 5850K this summer.
70c in mine craft? Have you got v-sync switched off? If you do switch it on, temps will go down.
Also as has been stated, amd idle temps are always way off
