OFFICIAL Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim (Discussion)

i now pronounce you husband and husband.

and yes, thats legal in skyrim. my female character got engaged to a female elf who i havent seen since.

Mine too.

Is it me or does anyone else imagines themselves running around in the game doing quests and killing things while your at work? lol. I do that often. I go through game withdrawals.

I more end up with things in the real world having me respond like I'm in game. I see something glittering ahead, and I think it's an ore vein. I see a twiggy shrub, and think "Aw, already picked those snowberries :( " That's how I know I'm really enjoying a game :toast:

Hey guys, I haven't been on the game for a few weeks, would like a quick update:

DID you guys notice a difference with the new 12.1 drivers ??? (performance-wise in skyrim)

Any new mods around worth a try ???

Has anyone found a way to make the game use more GPU or less CPU ???

no performance change, but less artifacting/graphical glitches.

heaps. too many to list.

nope.

I haven't used any mods yet. Mainly cause I don't want to have it fail and have to redownload. My internet is so slow.

Bah. IMO the only valid excuse for not using mods is being saddled with the console version.

Yeah this happens. Though it means you are enjoying it a little too much, you know? (e.g. spend more time in the real world).

Yeah get a job at Bethesda and recode the engine.

Hmm.... what is this "Real World" you refer to? Is that located through a still-existing Oblivion gate?? I bet it's ruled by the evil demon Michaelus Bayum!!! I shall Smite him!!!!:nutkick:

No such thing as too much skyrim. The only time I need to stop playing is when the wife is talking and I just say yup for 30min. then she throws in the "test" question we all know those the one that makes sure im listening because it requires an articulated response. Shit gets me everytime.

I dream about Skyrim, not playing it but being actually in it! Cool really.

For now I'm not installing any mods either. I'm waiting for this week's 4GB LAA patch so as to reinstall the texture mods. Without LAA the game crashes like crazy.

Since the release of Skyrim, Fallout 3 took an arrow...

my female character got engaged to a female elf who i havent seen since.

This is a game bug.
Had it happen to me.
TO resolve it I had to tab out listening to the rest of the guys dialogue and catch up with the 'wife' before she took off out the door and tell her where to go otherwise she disappears.

Is anyone else having Steam trouble right now?

I'm clicking to play, I get the small Steam window saying "preparing to launch skyrim" and it remains like that

It's just for Skyrim, other games load well.

Just tried it.
Steam was unable to sync your files with steam cloud or something.

Steam is also saying no connection down the bottom.
I don't recall it being there.

EDIT:-
Rebooted my system and launched Steam again.
Noticed a very brief pop up of a steam update, then everything started functioning properly again.

Must have been a steam hiccup.

Is Skyrim any better than Oblivion? I have heard such good stuff about this game and might buy it, but then again I didn't really like Oblivion..

I never played Oblibion, nor any other the like and I absolutely love Skyrim.

I can play as different character paths, completely ignore the main quest line, and just enjoy the massive world.

It's fun for sure.

I liked Skyrim better vs Oblivion in most parts and there are some parts i like better in oblivion, overall, Oblivion (vanilla) felt more like a beta compared to Skyrim imo (considering Oblivion was one of the early games of the X360). Morrowind felt more complex and deeper imo but was never a big fan of the combat (never really finished Morrowind that time since it destroys my PC lol slowdowns and glitch galore).
Oblivion can shine when its equipped with mods, i had dozens (hundreds?) of mods running at that time, custom textures, new locations, new quests, godrays(!!), ingame SSAO, creaturer mods, stealth overhaul and thief/crime mods, custom animation mods, combat mods...list goes on.

Would like to see the return of the popular mods from oblivion to this game;
Martigen's Monster Mod; barrage of improved variety of enemies, smaller variants and larger variants of enemies and creatures (i want a super giant that can justify your trip to space when he hits you!)
Midas Magic (already previewing and is now available in Nexus for download!)
Better weather effects (strong violent thunderstorms!)
Mayu's Animation overall (you will have your own unique set of animations, particularly in combat),
Unnecessary Violence; use anything to do damage, throwing stuff, throwing knives and people(!!), kicking, using bread/shovel/stick as weapon, taunting your enemies, modifying your weapon grip, locational damage(!!) etc.
Deadly Reflex; Dismemberment (not just decapitation) and horse combat (discontinued i think)
Thieve's Arsenal; ropes for climbing structures, stun arrows, stun baton, water arrows (arrows that can put off torches/fires and therefore improve sneaking).

Oblivion sucked. Skyrim wins. End of story.

Oblivion took a gamer's tastes to become engaged to the game and it's story.

Skyrim takes a mouse and keyboard.

I was addicted to Oblivion, but I think it was due to some friends also being into it as well as it was stutterville for me back then.

I personally loved the entire series. Playes morrowind and oblivion to death. I honestly think I like oblivion a bit more. Its give and take though. The story for skyrim seems a little less tattered then oblivion. But I enjoyed the world of cyrodil more.

Morrowind was my favorite. Haven't played anything earlier than that though.

Daggerfell was sweet. of course now you would look at it and laugh. but I played the shit out of that game. before ocarina of time

Daggerfall was massive hehe, and i was not fan of the combat as well :\
Ocarina of time? played it to death lol

I definitely intend to play Arena and Daggerfall at some point in time.

Wow, well...(I may be biased because I only played oblivion twice with a friends 5450 rig) It was pitiful. :nutkick: made me want to cry. Skyrim, on the other hand, made me buy another 6770 and I happily give to it every extra second of my existence. :rockout: I think most people in this thread will have something similar to say. :respect::respect:
