After overtaking Mozilla Firefox in terms of web-browser market-share in December 2011, Google Chrome has its eyes trained on Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE), still the most popular web-browser in use today. According to the most recent StatCounter figures, at the rate at which Google Chrome's market-share is growing, it will overtake that of MSIE in 2012. It will do that as early as in June-July. Interestingly, Google Chrome is the youngest web-browser among its competitors, launched in Q4 2008, but has surpassed the market shares of much older competitors in a matter of months. Apart from stats, Google's web-advertising prowess makes Chrome's MSIE overtake in June-July seem realistic.

Makes me wonder if this is because they sneak Chrome into almost every free DL if your not paying attention...

Bah..WTF..FF sucks and crashes all the time and IE isn't easily customized maybe I'll just give it a go.

As opposed to putting Internet Explorer in with every Windows install?

Statcounter numbers are skewed because they count hits not users. If a Chrome user visits 10 sites with Statcounter counter but a Firefox user visits only one then it's 10:1 by the Statcounter method.

Yeah, this might just mean that people who only use the internet a few times a month are the same people who can't be bothered to try other browsers

I think because it's the fastest out there (using the 17 beta and trying dev and canary) even when the HW acceleration and pipelining are still in the works. And the increasing extensions. Previous versions were far slower here.

Also the marketing and banners out there can play a good role, but if people keep using it, then that means something :)

I think IE9 improved a lot comparing to the previous IE browsers, Firefox is fast in terms of drawing and scrolling but Javascript animations are noticeably slower, Opera is very fast but Chrome surpassed it here.

I have all those browsers (IE9, Opera, Firefox, Chrome, previously Safari...) installed and testing them lol.

OK I just DL'd it and customized it to my liking...impressed that user scripting is built in....didn't like that you have to go into the settings>basic>toolbar to add a home button but no biggie...

It is fast and doesn't crash so it's my new default browser..

Will be a long time before I abandon Firefox ;o, they'd have to screw up the browser before that would be the case

FF is working just fine here, has always been. It's your hardware making it crash.

I used both FF and Chrome, and I love 'em.
Neither browser never crashed on my rig.

Yeah but to take the chance that it is
Maybe I will give it a go .

In my case I have 4 browsers installed I don't have personal preference but currently Chrome is the fastest *here*, I update all them regularly so when I see a new version of one is better I switch to it until a new version from another browser comes out and so on. Today I use Chrome, tomorrow may use Firefox/Opera/IE :)

Yeah, 'cause I chose to have IE on my machine, and I've never seen that Bing on any of my other product downloads....

eh, if you feel that way, you might as well ignore any poll that doesn't include an instantaneous answer from every living person, period. Every poll has a range. You get as many samples as you can, and hope the extremes cancel each other out.

the only reason IE is ahead as it is is because its the default browser when installing windows and you need to use IT to get another one and I think they count that.

Ok I just Installed this Google Chrome crap and I do not get it . I mean it is not very user friendly ( To Me ) at all . Nothing like FF . seems a bit over the top and looks as if it will take months to customize it . FF is easy user friendly and much faster to customize , Hell I can not even find the place to set the HOME page ! No for me . Going to uninstall it now .

We know. your the type of person that has your mind set. You found something wrong with it and now its important to tell TPU how much you hate it. good job on your 20sec chrome test run. We are all SO proud of you.

LOL . Well yeah . I may have found it confusing and cumbersome and that is the way I did find it . Don't get all mad at me for this . When I first got into FF it took me less than 20 seconds to figure it out . Why should I take a better part of a week just to learn a web browser ? IE is just as easy as FF . Both I use . I am not saying that Google Chrome is not good , I am saying for me it is not good . I like a straight forward interface that is fast to pick up on and easy to use . Now if you think I need more time to get to know this browser I would say yes I should take some real time to use it and all that but I just don't like the look or even the feel of it TBH . And it doesn't take long to figure things out like this . And just FYI I never said that I hated it just that it is not for me .

Um I know you never said you hated it. and please note you are not making me mad. I'm just saying everyone here already knew you werent going to like it. You get angry at things easily and you speak your mind in the first post. You are the type of person that doesnt have an open enough mind. You said you liked FF and I already knew that ment you wouldnt like chrome. You can argue it but its all over your posts. Also try to understand that I dont have a problem with FF.
