PS2 is interrupt based. CRT monitor have the lowest input lag. mechanical switches have shorter actuation.

There is this professional Starcraft II player called DongRaeGu who uses a cheap ass keyboard and a mouse stolen from an internet cafe who, in a good day, can beat just about anyone you throw at him. Equipment doesn't matter, skills does.

there are a couple Street Fighter IV players that use a controller over arcade stick but they are known to be quirky players.
