Asus P8p67 pro.
Intel I2600k.

Hi all. I've been searching the net for the fastest ddr3 ram available. The fastest I have found is by Team Extreem, PC3-20800C10 2600MHz. The brief discription on OCUK website say it will work in these boards, Intel P67, Z68, X58, x79-based DDR3 motherboards. But I read somewhere else that the P8p67 pro can only run ram at a maximum of 2133MHz. Could some one advise me if my board will run 2600MHz ram? Also does any on here know of any ram that is realy fast with low latency. Also I have noticed that my CPU runs very hot under load and fairly hot at idle (35-44c). I have a overclock of 4GHz at the moment. I was using a overlock of 4.6 untill last week when I noticed that wilst converting a video in Adobe Prem Pro my cpu temps went upto 87c! I wonder if my amature attemps at overclocking in the past have damaged my cpu's silicon by running it at 80-90c for two hours with prime 95, is this possible why it runs quite hot nowadays?

2600 MHz ram isn't going to happen with a 2600K. You need AMD, or SB-E for that, and wit hSB-E, you're gonna hve to buy many many chips to find one that does.

Perhaps 3770K may work a bit better for ram OC, time will tell.

Ok thanks cadaveca. Actualy I was reading some of your comments on a thread about ram the other week, very interesting. So if I was to buy some ram that ran at 2133mhz, would it deffinatley work in my system?

whats you point?
for oc or you just want to improve your performance?
1600 looks enough but overall performance does not depend on ram only

How much are you looking to spend?

If price isn't a large part of what you decide on ,you might want to wait for a review I am working on right now. I'm currently testing another kit right this second on the other machine right next to me. I can't say much more other than to say I'm impressed.

2133 MHz will work just fine, provided you get the right kit. I've been running 2133 MHz on LGA 1155 since i got it just after the launch.

I have some money saved up for upgrading my system so I'll spend what ever I have to on ram. I was considering £299 on the Team Etreem 2600. But now that I know it's no good for me I'll happily spend £130 on 16gig of team extreem 2133mhz cas9-11-11-28. I will definitely wait for your review.

Review will be live some time next week. My review for this week went up tuesday, I think, might not be until thursday, next week. This kit takes a bit more time to run tests on. ;)

IMO the best ram dave has reviewed was the Samsungs IIRC! These are cheap and OC like mad!
