Lian Li Introduces PC-Q09FN Upgraded Mini-ITX HTPC Case

Lian Li today announces their new brushed aluminum mini-ITX HTPC case, PC-Q09FN. The more roomy PC-Q09FN improves upon its predecessors, the PC-Q09 and PC-Q09F, with more hard drive storage capacity and improved cooling.

With the upgraded dimensions of 11.65" x 5.51" x 7.48" WxHxD (296mm x 140mm x 190mm), the PC-Q09FN gives DIY computers builders the space to install the essential hardware for home theater applications. Lian Li's PC-Q09FN supports a slim optical disk drive and a 3.5" HDD that can easily be taken in and out using the included thumb screws with rubber suspensions to reduce vibrations. A removable 2.5" hard drive cage allows up to three SSDs to be installed in this mini-ITX HTPC.



The improved cooling design gives users more options to effectively get rid of unwanted heat. Ventilation holes on the side and rear of the chassis facilitate the flow of air. A 120mm exhaust fan on the side panel pulls hot air out of the chassis. Additionally, there is room to install a CPU cooler up to 50mm in height.

Upgrades and system maintenance is made hassle free since the top panel can be simply removed without the need of tools, allowing users to easily access their hardware. The front panel provides two USB 3.0 ports for blazing fast data transfers, and the LED illuminated power button changes from blue to reddish-pink when reading.

Lian Li's PC-Q09FN comes with a 300W micro-ATX power supply with 80-Plus efficiency included, and will be available in black and silver in selected countries and various vendors for the suggested retail price of $149.99 (VAT not included).

You're right. I wasn't paying enough attention to the expansion slots which aren't even there.
So, the best idea would be to stuff the most high end AMD Fusion thing in it. Powerful CPU and GPU together in a very small form factor.

Do want. Especially with that PSU included, as (for me) finding a decent one that fits the specific case usually is the largest hurdle for building a compact PC.
Also, +1 for installing a fusion board in there, that would make for a quite powerful PC for that form factor!

Is it just me or did they install the power button upside-down?

actually for the price you get that PSU but I don't know what quality? It is 80+ bronze, but still...

Most if not all Lian-li cases have this look, even Corsair 800D has this design philosophy. I personally like this kind of minimalist looks, but their cases costs a lot

yep, lian li is kinda pricey
minimalist is good but i dont like the flat bezel, theres no mesh or little accent like that

Guess that's about "right" for Lian-Li... (personally thought most of their products are/were overpriced)

You have to understand that aluminium is not cheap, especially if you use plates as thick as Lian Li uses. All plates are 2mm thick and the whole case is really rigid. I used to have cheaper Thermaltake all aluminium case and it was rather crappy. Sure it was light but the whole frame deformed on its own to such extent that my PCIe 1x soundcards started loosing connection because the slot frame deformed so far that connector moved inside PCIe slot and disconnected.
Also sides were so thin i got horrible vibrations from the case sides themself.

I think Lian Li justifies the price pretty well even if some think its too expensive. Materials, craftsmanship and smart layout speaks for itself. I also thought they are too expensive until i bought my current PC-V354 case. It's tiny but just superb. I love it and i'd consider Lian Li again when i'll be in need for a new case.
