Thermal Solutions specialist GELID Solutions expands its multi-award winning "ICY VISION" VGA Cooler on the latest graphic cards of AMD (reference board of HD 7950 & HD 7970). This new product is dedicated exclusively to AMD VGA cards.

The "ICY VISION-A" cooler contains 5 power heatpipes in a unique heatpipe constellation. The heatpipes are interlaced into 85 optimized high--quality Aluminium fins. Together with a flat stack fin soldered Copper base, they enable the most efficient heat transmission and dissipation from GPU core in its class.

Besides the heatsink, two 92 mm U V-reactive fans with 11 blades in S-shape generate 20% more air flow than traditional fans. The fan contains a high-quality ball bearing to ensure a longer lifetime in high temperature environments.

The "ICY VISION-A" is CrossFire compatible on a number of cards. More RAM and Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) heatsinks are included to cool down the components around the GPU. The high performance GC-2 thermal compound is also included inn the package.

The "ICY VISION-A" VGA cooler is available now and has a MSRP of USD 55 or Euro 46.

This cooler is RoHS, WEEE conform and carries a 5 year warranty.

the Icy Vision cost more than the Accelero Twin Turbo. it's also louder and the fans are not PWM.

I had an Icy Vision for my old 6950/6970 and it was great, I got around the PWM issue quite simply as you now get an adapter cable that allows you to plug it into various power sources but to be honest at 100% it was only the noise equivilent of the stock cooler at about 45%.

Crossfire compatible? does that mean the card will still only take up two slots with this installed? or that it doesn't block the Crossfire interconnect?

Both i think, the cooler is not very thick at all, if my memory serves me correctly, it is no thicker, maybe not even quite as thick as my stock 6970 cooler was.

wishful thinking. AC advertise their coolers as being crossfire compatible but they are all tripple slot coolers.

the only way around this so far apart from going watercooling is to use prolimatech MK-13's and they aint cheap and are very limited supply where found which means they have probably been discontinued by Prolimatech

Freedom may well be right, the gelid is slightly "thinner" than the AC, however thats only part of the story in so much as it's also the design on how high it sits on the card that makes the real difference so it may be that the Gelid won't in fact give you crossfire. having said that, I'm not sure if different boards can have different PCI-E slot spacing becuase I still feel sure that when I mounted my Gelid it was not obstructing the other slot.

Pricy still ?, shit if i wanted another i could go Amazon(SVC even cheaper ) and pick one up for $55. I bet it's more of a UK issue than supply issue.

And cannot see it being discontinued the cooler was made to fit as many graphics cards as possible with possible updates to fit newer ones that come out.

Amazon have only 1 left hehe and if you wanted one try ordering it though the US link ?

my rev2 on my 6970 is quite right, only thing this rev differs is the protruding die needed to make contact with the recessed 79xx gpu cores. it's a fantastic cooler, mine was $50 cdn, much cheaper than the $79 AC wanted for the comparable accelero.

I would imagine it is still three slots tall, my guess is that the SLI and Crossfire compatibility means it doesn't block the fingers. I mean the originals shows this compatibility with a three slot cooler.

Yeah, there is no way it would be two slots.. 92mm fans aren't smaller then 25mm high... So, you got that, plus probably 30mm on the heatpipes from the look of things, I can be wrong.. I just love how it's not vision 4.0... it's Vision A.....

I'll still buy a Thermalright over this.. even if it wants to warp the card..

it's 2.5, so ya 3 essentially. i'd grab thermalright as my first choice as well if i had $90 to put together a h/s fan combo, with vrm setup for my card, but if i had $90 i'd rather just buy the next tier of gpu.
