Cheap PC1066 RDRAM???

I want to upgrade my RAM, 533MHz RDRAM, but the price is really daunting... And the only RDRAM I can find that will work in my system is ECC, and the current RAM I have is non-ECC.. so in short I will have to remove my current 512MB and replace it to upgrade. I have looked on eBay several times and other sites, but like I mentioned above RDRAM is NOT cheap... Any ideas, like where I can buy CHEAP RAM for this aging rig?

**This is a Dell Precision Workstation 350**

a new system WOULD be nice, but this system still meets the min. requirements for the latest games and I don't play those anyway.

I am happy with all but the RAM.

Are you sure it is ecc you have to get?

According to this http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=Precision+WorkStation+350+(533MHz+FSB) it doesnt support ecc, I am sure a standard value stick on DDR533 would work fine..

It don't HAVE to be ECC, but that is all I can find.

That's DDR2.

I gotta have RAMBUS... idk why they (RAMBUS) over price their RAM.. Hell, it's 4 years old.

Holy crap! I just checked out the prices on Newegg. Geeeeez. $214 for 1 stick of 512MB, and that's only 800MHz. I'm sorry beyond, I gotta go with Alcpone on this one. At very least you can buy a new mobo for your cpu socket(I'm guessing Socket478?) and DDR ram and reuse your cpu and peripherals. Would still end up being cheaper than the RDRAM.

Stupid Dell. And yup, 478, gotta love it. lol. If I got with a new mobo, I gotta get a new case and the RAM too ofcourse, and a new heatsink... Off the top of my head I am looking at spending around $250 min. But I found an aution on eBay for 512MB RDRAM that is "guarenteed" to work with my Dell for $189... so it's a toss up. More mem or new system. lol. On the upside of a new case, mobo and RAM I can get a mobo with AGP x8. This one is only x4 so my graphics card is a little underfed.

I have 3 computers with RDRAM 4x128MB and i know how though is finding one.

Try to buy some old computer around P4 1.4 - 1.8 it is a good probabylity that peapole do not know that they have RDRAM. I whant to say, buy used RDRAM

For the price of 512MB of RDRAM, you can buy a new motherboard, new processor, AND new RAM.
