OFFICIAL Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim (Discussion)

Too true! I want a mod like in Fallout:New Vegas where I could tell them to keep their distance. I found one very in-depth mod for Aela which does just that, almost as in-depth as Willow was for FNV, but I just want to be able to generally tell everyone that. And no, haven't tried out the Aela yet, bc to do it she can't be your follower yet. :-(

What I really really want are some weapon racks I can buy and then place in my house. It is that one factor that really makes me not like a single house mod. Those that have them have mannequins, and I hate mannequins. They plain don't work! I want to just place a few in the houses I do have.

I haven't yet done the Daedra's Best Friend quest this time because the first time through I could barely get my character to walk with the dog getting in my feet all the time.
It would have been more appropriate for Bethesda to have used a cat for that quest... Cats weave in your feet. Dogs don't..

I have never had or needed a follower (apart from the obviously ENFORCED "This idiot will go with you against your will, and ruin everything for the next 20 minutes" quests), Am I doing it wrong?

Followers make good portable (kinda redundant) backpacks.... maybe call them "Self-Propelled Backpacks" :)
Leave them at the entrance, and go for it :)

I like them just kinda for the role-playing aspect. And they make it handy to bring home lots o' loot! :toast:

I like using them as decoys 'cause I'm a squishy mage.

How is that? I wanted to start a mage character but well they are just too damn squishy.

You get a good fighter type as a follower. They will run right in there, and the enemy will focus on them. Of course, 9 times out of ten, your follower will end up on fire (or whatever you use) as well, because they will always get in your line of fire at the last possible second.

I just let Lydia rush in and tank while I spam firebolts lol.

Any area of attack stuff?

I haven't played since like December, but I remember having a fireball spell that made a big explosion. The damage per mana-cost ratio seemed better with just the standard firebolts though.

firestorm takes a while to build up and the whole time you're being attacked, also certain attacks can break the charge and you have to start over. However it does make a nice big pretty blast that looks cool.

Fireball has a small area of effect and is launched from a distance, it's damage is weaker than firebolt2 but works better against a group of enemies.

I did a mage and found that squishiness wasn't an issue so long as I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off while spamming spells. It's the old greek mantra "speed is armor"

I've been playing an assassin-type class right now, and trying really hard to keep from strangling Lydia... stupid wench keeps running in as soon as the enemy thinks something might be close, and ruining my stealth heheh.

I waited till lydia ran into combat and back stabbed her to hell

Did a quick search and didn't see that this had been posted, so I'm posting it, sorry if it's a repost.
Skyrim: Retro Edition
If it were real, I would totally buy it. I love all the references in the trailer.

news for today

Elder Scrolls Skyrim DLC "Dawn Guard" is now out for the PC

$25!

damn, that thing better have some good content

Price is irrelevant its an Elder Scrolls expansion

is it a real full on expansion, or just DLC?

I just shelled out $19.99, gonna give Dawnguard a whirl tonight. I may not post for a while... might be deep in the grips of Elder Scrolls addiction again!

Edit :
It's supposed to be a full Expansion to my understanding. But in this age of short DLC, it could be a mini expac.

wait, its $19.99 for USA peeps?

i'm getting sick of the pricing differences

Hm this may have to wait.
I like Skyrim and I want to start a new character but with that price, I would have to say pass.

Anyone tried to get Cicero's outfit? I've just come across him, and the stats are pretty nice, but apparently, I need tons more pickpocketing skill to grab them...

Without spoilers, you can get it later in the game. The Jester outside the farm (Cicero) plays a role in a significant arc of the story later. You'll need patience though...
