Whether you agree with it or not (personally it feels a bit intrusive to me) however, a choice remains, waiver your privacy rights, which clearly you do have IMO by agreeing to the EULA or keep all of those rights intact and not agree to it and therefore don't play the game......... to be honest, a developers motive should be questioned if they are putting consumers in that position in the first place surely?

Maybe I am being a little defensive, however I get enough control from a wife, 2 daughters, a grandaughter and the tax man, I hardly need anymore!

I never said I agreed to it myself. But, at the same time I never assumed I had privacy on the computer. I don't trust the US federal government in the very least. Only thing I can ever rely on from them is to tax me and to remove my rights as originally intended. This has made me very jaded about a lot of things. Privacy is one of them. If I want anything to stay private I keep it off the "grid". Its not on a phone, computer or anything that can connect online. IF you ever assumed you had privacy on a computer that connects online you are an idiot.

So for me I click agree. Let em farm out all the info they want. There is nothing I want to protect on here any way except my work, and that I make daily backups of.

But should you have to take all these precautions when your only intent is to play a game? The association between the game and privacy is one made by the company as it asks you to sign a document waiving a number of rights. Bear in mind that it is not feasible for most people to keep all data of a sensitive nature off their computers.

Again, if they profit from the use of our personal details, shouldn't they be paying us?

I am not arguing that it is impossible to get by without a computer for a number of tasks, but it is impractical.

In any event, why place the onus on the user to keep sensitive material off their machines - if I want to play a game the material I store on my computer is irrelevant, or at least was irrelevant until EA spotted an opportunity for profit, providing they could oblige users to waive a few fundamental rights in exchange for access to a game.

as far as I'm aware Steam provides the option to opt out of data collection, and I have no concerns about EA's clairvoyance. EA also provides an option to opt out - don't buy any of their games
