Dell Unveils a Pair of E-Series Entry Level Monitors

Dell unveiled the 21.5-inch E2213H widescreen, and 17-inch E1713S square monitors. The two pack LED-backlit TN-film LCD panels, and a basic feature-set. The E2213H features 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 160° H/V viewing angles, 5 ms response time, 250 cd/m² brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and inputs that include DVI and D-Sub. The E1713S, on the other hand, features 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution, most other features remain the same, except it lacks DVI display inputs. The two are priced under $150.

They're selling VGA-only LCD monitors too? Wow, seriously? VGA should be omitted, not DVI. DVI can do both anyway--why do they seem to have forgotten that?

I think it will sell good, it's geared towards older computers that can't output high resolution...I still see a lot of such computers in schools/uni.

not bad pricing doh..!!maybe would use 17" one for eyefinity..,two of them ofcourse....and at one at least 24"...witch for my opinion is perfect size...now that i say that why am i searching online for 27" one??maybe put some extra money on beter 24"??120hz??hmmm...

To be honest, 2 of those would look real nice in an dual monitor setup for games. At least no more black bar on the center of the screen, like on same size dual monitor setup.

Except that one is x1024 and the other x1080 and you won't be able to get them to line up properly. However, the idea is a good one. They should make 1600x1600 screens AND 2560x1600 screen. We can buy the 1600x for productivity/office work, and 2560x for consumer work and monster spreadsheets or video/photo editing. Those that want can then do dual screens, 2560x + 1600x and clearly have ONE the master and the other the slave. And still be able to fit on a normal desk, since two 2560x just dont.

I think, but I'm not sure, that you can force a custom resolution on 1080p monitor to have something like 1920x1024....but I'm not sure if it will work.

Don't mind the resolution much, since I find 1280x1024 x 3 great for web development. But VGA only? Yeech. Make those entry monitors even cheaper and go digital only Dell!

I think this is enough for Contact Centers stations and similar. Must cost them nothing to make one so its a good deal for cheapo needs.

They still have the tools for 1280x1024, so I guess why not? Its not going to sell for much more than US$80 though.

I have 2 19" 1280x1024 on each side of my main monitor, works fine for the stuff I put on them such as helpfiles and documentation when I'm developing. Don't really need much higher resolution for such stuff
