Can't say I've ever noticed this one. And I tend to hop all over the damn place without even thinking about it...a hold over from old school FPS days.
Overall I agree, though.
I don't think they actually do the hand plant. But I know for sure it's an awkward jump that you noticeably move slow and high step of some sort. Will happen a lot going up hills (because it thinks you are trying to leap the hill I guess), and sometimes while going down hills.
Also the rock, paper, scissors mechanics with knifing I hadn't even gone into. You must be behind your target, or at shoulders side. Or you can sprint directly at them, jump, fly through the air, turn around in mid air, grab on and cinematic knife. Just some stupid mechanics, you can only cinematic knife if your character actually does an animation raising his hand in the air. Even if you know it should be a lock, it won't be unless that happens (this is if you have your knife out). If you don't have the knife out and it should be lock, but it isn't, you just swipe them and are stuck with the knife out and your pants down as they turn around and ask you what the hell you are doing before inserting the barrel into your unmentionables. (This cinematic topic fills me with rage)
