Iiyama Intros Blistering Fast 27-inch Full-HD Monitor

Japanese display maker Iiyama announced a blistering fast 27-inch monitor, the ProLite G2773HS-2. It may offer bland 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, but makes up for it with 1 ms (GTG) response time, and a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz. That would lend you flicker-free stereoscopic 3D viewing, with 72 Hz per plane. The monitor uses a conventional TN-film panel with LED backlit illumination. Other vital stats include 85° horizontal, and 80° vertical viewing angles; 300 cd/m² maximum brightness, and dynamic mega-contrast. Measuring 647 x 239 x 454.5 mm (WxDxH), it weighs about 5.6 kg. It will make its market debut on July 16.

Besides this is a monitor mostly used for games, I would love one. Let's hear the price.

I've been seeing name brand 27" 1920x1080 monitors starting to go for less then $200 USD or thereabouts and I now typically consider these to be budget class monitors. I see no need to pick apart or nitpick budget monitors.

I'm still considering a Seiki 39" SE39UY04 4K UHDTV 3840x2160 as a desktop display for $699. That would be budget class too with some compromises I won't complain about either.

Isn't that the one you can only connect through HDMI to though? So you're stuck with 30fps tops?

You will need 4 Titans and then perhaps you will reach 65 FPS, but that's about it.

My monitor is a 27 inch 1ms monitor, and while I know their are better monitors out their I really can't justify spending the money when what I have just works, and works well. Ok so I get a better picture and better viewing angles with IPS, and maybe I get a sharper picture with 2560 x 1440 but all those features cost more money then I would like to spend on a monitor. My hardware can't keep up in the case of the upped resolution and IPS is a meh upgrade.

This monitor if anything would be an upgrade as I would get the ability to do 3D (which is just market gander) or a smoother image, which is important to me.

This monitor isent for every body,but the crowd this is intended for will love it.

Precisely I would invest in this if I still had my 22 inch monitor (1680 x 1050), thank you!

I see both Svarog and EpicShweetness points of view. I recently upgraded from a tn panel to an IPS panel monitor and the contrast and clarity is amazing. True that tn panels dont look that great but they are silky smooth and somewhat alive. It almost looks like they are moving right in front of you or it also looks like a budget-movie that used cheap camera. But hey, everyone has their own taste.

I love IPS, but if the application is strictly gaming I don't think TN is actually all that bad. Anyone playing is probably going to be looking at the monitor straight on, so viewing angles aren't going to be a problem, plus you do get a lot more value when measured in terms of response-time per dollar.

So really the Max refresh rate is on 72Hz or is the refresh rate actually 144Hz not viewing say a 3D movie or the like

I love all the IPS people who are misinformed about high refresh rate monitors. Yes, your panel type is superior, but not for gaming or 3D unless you pay out the ass for one of those overclockable monitors that aren't even guaranteed to hit a high frequency and actually last. Have fun with your ghosting as well, as the fastest IPS monitor has a 5ms response time. I have an ASUS VG236H which is an older 2011 model 120Hz TN panel and the colors are really decent for a TN panel and pretty much match my ASUS Nexus 7 (probably an e-IPS panel though). I usually turn it down to 100Hz though for more demanding games that like to drop below 120Hz on my HD 7970 e.g. Borderlands 2. 1440p IPS means even lower frame rates in many current games unless you have dual GTX 780s anyway. Viewing angles are also a moot point as this monitor is raised to align with my face and I don't see any TN color shift, and at an arm's length away from me (my normal position), I barely see the pixel grid on my monitor because I'm not silly enough to purchase a 27" 1080p/1200p monitor.

I still have a 5ms 1080p TN overclocked to 72Hz at work and my 2ms VG236HE blows it away not only with the lack of ghosting but also the smoothness of the mouse cursor and everything else.

As for this monitor Its not that bad because of its response time...a higher res monitor at lesser response times makes for blur and lag and thus doesn't really live up to expectation plus this monitor does have a nice refresh rate @144hz...then again any higher res at 3ms response or better will lay this thing out LOL

I love all of these elitest users. "oh, only 1080p on a 27 inch screen, thats SUCH a low resolution! should totally be 5760x2160" 1080p is perfectly fine for a 27 inch screen, the same way it still looks great on a 54 inch tv. of course, im one of the wierd people who think that a 1080p screen on a 12 inch screen is overkill, and on a 5 inch screen is laughably pointless.
