OFFICIAL Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim (Discussion)

Yeah, was thinkin that a mod is causing it, prolly the monster mod thing (i have around 30-40 mods installed i think, boss'd recently) Somehow my random CTDs disappeared for now.

Also and i didn't really notice, do most enemies spam healing potions/spells or just mostly mages? any mod to alter this? Currently only using Duel combat mod, and i don't think it mods any of these parameters.

@Athlonite: You forming a harem army? :O

I wonder if those large mods are worth it (falskaar and wyrmstooth)

And what ENB mods are worth gettin these days that doesn't do overbloom, oversaturate and over DOF (at least keeping nice detailed shadow and sun shafts)

I also found out that skyrim will CTD when it tries to use more than 3.1GB of RAM so keep an eye on how many HD texture packs you have installed aswell bit of a video on it and lots of posts aswell here http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/news/338//?

apparently it's to do with hte fact the tesv.exe despite having LAA enabled now can't use more than 4GB as it's only an 32bit executable

and yeah harem army sounds good ;) plus I use the AP mod too so it's just sex on demand

Just goes to show that 32bit limitations are becoming common and developers are retarded for sticking to 32bit executables.

Dat Skyrim engine is ancient :(

dont worry, the new consoles will force a shift there

alot of the comments on the nexus are asking why beth can't just put out an 64 bit .exe for those of us using x64 OS/CPU and copious amounts of ram other games can do either or so apparently it's not that hard

simple - because then one person will add all the mods crash free on x64 and post a screenshot, and 10,000 retarded morons will try and do the same on x86 and send in 300,000 support tickets about 'x64 keeps crashing' 'game black screen' and so on.

Yes, yes, and a little more yes. The voice acting is amusing at times, but the jarl for falskaar has a great voice actor if i must say so. I have to say, falskaar has entertained me more than skyrim itself. Havent given wyrmstooth a go yet, but i have it installed.

that real clouds looks awesome

still in its early stages but will most likely look nice when properly tweaked.

Missed that, but yeah, I was looking for another physical, thanks :)

Plus, I'm severely anti-gameshite :)

Got my setup down to 20 fps, I guess I may have to remove some useless 4K textures.

Who needs 4K bread textures lol

stick with 2k textures they offer the best visual quality to performance trade off,

essentially if you look at it as a 1 to 1 ratio 2048x2048 texture is more than enough for say 1920x1080, I like higher resolutions as well but theres also the problem now of Mods and Vram getting so intensive that the game gets unstable.

sticking with 2048 means you can run more mods with less chance of crashes caused by limitations in the engine and the executable. I was using custom 8k textures on some things but had to scale back.

Yeah I figured.

The jump from 2048x2048 to 4096x4096 is pretty steep in size.

I get like 3GB of VRAM used upon JUST loading into the game at 2560x1600, which per se is not a problem but the game engine is piss poor unstable as you've said.

Would have loved to have this title on a new engine based off DX11, imagine how much more we could have tweaked without archaic DX9 issues...

true but just remember the day they DO switch to an all new engine is the day that Bethesda has to code and release new tools for modders it also means the possibility for the death of Modding.

Example Total War series,

Shogun to Medieval modding improved
Medieval to Rome modding improved further
Rome to Medieval II modding again improved

Medieval II to Empire modding pretty much died off just unit changes etc no maps no major overhauls no nothing
Empire to Napoleon same situation as above
Napoleon to Shogun 2 modding improved slightly, at the end of the games life mod tools were finally released
Shogun 2 to Rome 2 mod support will be built in

Empire - Napoleon - Shogun 2- Rome 2 4 games on the same engine across 5 years or so to get modding back

Shogun - Medieval old school modding was limited but easy

Rome - Medieval II modding was solid and easy 2003-2006

Bethesda = Morrowind - Oblivion - Fallout 3 - Fallout NV (Obsidian but it counts) - Skyrim
2003-2013 10 years of the same game engine = 10 years of epic mods.

It is what it is

I'd be sad to play a game where NPC do not fall off the sky TBH or they rotate in the sky like roflcopters.

those are the moments that make everyone laugh the hardest, and get the most fun out of a game.

For all of you Texture Pack Combiner users the author has released version 1.95 after a long period (months)

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20801/?

Now I'm off to scavenging texture mods :p

EDIT : Don't forget to endorse!!! :toast:

Yeah I honestly hardly remember a title/series that made me laugh like TES while playing ;)

Been a while since I've messed with skyrim.

Do any of the skyrim.ini thread tweaks have an effect at this point?

How about any of the Papyrus memory tweaks?

What has my concern is that my skyrim only seems to be using roughly 700-800MB of ram max. I've seen others use 2GB. How can I make this happen?

How many AA samples are you using?

How many texture mods are you using?

Which resolution are you running at? (Judging by your specs 1080p)

His Vram usage is fine as for system memory usage that will skyrocket when using Ugrid changes to increase the draw distance. As it increases the cells around the character that are loaded as well as creates NPCs animated objects and surface aka waterfalls etc. That will effect regular memory.
