More info on what HWBot is and general rules can be found here but this is a brief intro.

HWBot.org is a dynamic team of international hardware fanatics as well as internationally recognized overclockers, dedicated to gathering specifications and benchmark performance results of computer hardware as well as serving a non-stop overclocking competition platform for amateur and die-hard overclockers. you will be joining about 40,000 overclockers from all over the world competing in more than ten of the most popular benchmarks in thousands of hardware categories, resulting in over 720,000 benchmark results, a figure that is increasing by over 500 every day. the benchmark results generate points awarded to both the member’s profile, the team’s profile and the country of origin and based on those points members are ranking in the overclockers league, hardware masters league, teams league and many more sub-rankings.

Competition Engine


As you can see there are plenty of tests to run and they are split into 2 sections, 2d for the cpu and 3d for the gpu. Not all hardware is able to beat world records but the way the bot works it to put hardware up against other users with the same kit so you can play with anything and still help the team. However, 3D tests aren't categorised by the cpu but only the gpu. On top of the global, hardware, competition points you can gain team points, now these are what matter to us as a team. These are worked out by putting your scores up against the best scores of the team, so you might not have the fastest gpu in the world, but its a great feeling having the fastest in the team.

There are several leagues; Pro OC League, OC League, Enthusiast League as well as the Teams League. Majority of us as average users with watercooling/high-end aircooling will be in the enthusiast league. Pro OC uses extreme cooling methods such as LN2/DICE

There are even competitions/challenges you can create yourself so that to encourage others to try and beat your score.

Rules

Please take note of the rules regarding your submissions, each test needs its own screenshot but as a rule of thumb you need 2 CPU-Z (1 for CPU speed 1 for ram timings) and a GPU-Z for each card (3D tests only) on screen in the screenshot. Hwbot prime requires a save file which is uploaded directly to the site via that benchmark submission.

Here are examples of screenshots:

Red parts must be shown in the submission screenshot, green parts are optional. A picture of you rig must be entered for points in enthusiast league.

Some Tips

• Tesselation is not mandatory for 3D tests - NO TESS
• Windows7 stripped with RT7 is the best platform for majority of benching - NO win8 - search tweaked and tiny operating systems for more information
• Cooling all components is essential
• Disable all 3D settings in CCC or Nvidia control panel
• For aircooling/watercooling a slow HDD with terrible loading times will allow more time for cpu/gpu cooling between tests
• A partition just for benchmarking is ideal - 30-35GB is enough
• Disable network when benching
• Nothing has to be fully stable - just bootable and benchable
• Test benchmarks that you enjoy
• Own what you can and upload to Techpowerup! team
• Ask the experienced for tips and advice!

Operating systems

Windows8 is unfortunately banned from hwbot for the time being.

There are however operating systems that benefit certain benchmarks better than others, in general though a low resource/stripped win7 is ideal for all benchmark tests. Tweaked and Tiny operating systems

AMD peeps remember to turn everything off in CCC for hwbot. Nvidia do what ya gotta do!

Submissions for the enthusiast league require photos of your computer, so we can verify the cooling method used. Please edit your submission and attach a picture of your computer if you want the global and hardware points count for your league position.

hey thanks, anything you feel like benching do. I bet your intel set up would do well on things like wprime etc.

im working on a 3d11 score atm! then probably a wprime or superpi

and yea I know their site is buggy, I got to keep hitting the compatibility tool bar thing to get it to change!

Nope. 2c/2t, single CH RAM still not impressive. Especially when freq is same/lower/close than previous "best". Sorry Besides, those types of benches do not apply to this "suite" AFAIK.

To me it is neither impressive, OR usefull. I'm speaking directly about the recent Intel Haswell posting. I shouldn't say utterly useless, since it was done with a retail chip, it is a sign that the chips are levelling out... Every so often, benchmarkers have some excellent news for us "regular" folk

I may add a few benches from my daughters rig if I can pull her away from it. I am off the next three days so will see.

Edit: thanks for the info Frick I didn't know that. I don't use W8 so I will still add some. From my points and how many benches I was doing it seemed it was me and a few others. With some of the powerhouse computers here at TPU I figured there would be more people. Some have other things to do and we have the folding team. Thats a great cause and I can see why they wouldn't want to stop folding when they are helping others.

well TPU is now 123rd from 131st.
