I bet that is nice! I saw the video online with that cooler on the 290, and it sounded so nice and quiet, downright sexy! How good is the cooler?

Its great. Have it running @100% and its in audible and my 290 OC'd 1150/1450 doesn't exceed 63c

You guys notice the price increase on Newegg on the 290s? Apparently this whole mining thing taking off really made prices go up.

Very nice, but in my country Accelero is quite expensive (damn tax'es) . I'm waiting for DirectCU2, TwinFrozr and Vapor-X (but if I'm not wrong, Vapor has a very bad VRM cooling or no VRM cooling).

Bro I feel your pain. Many of us have been there before, handing over our old card before getting the new, and it sucks! Did you happen to order from Newegg? Their shipping has been bloody terrible for the past week or so, just atrocious.

NCIX.com in Canada. Usually I don't have problems with them, but these R9-290s are really hard to get your hands on.

The price up on everything, some are WAY up, from 7870's and up and with most of them out of stock!!!!

OpenCl must be doing a heck of a job increasing mining output!

My newegg packaging phase was 3 days in itself. No eggs off for newegg though (pun intended) it was black friday week. Some would argue they should expect the increased sale and strain and I would assume they did and added the extra hands they could I mean shipping was bound to be slow you would have to be an idiot to not expect it. Extra staff or not. You can only get so many people on shift before you just cant work faster. Everything is like this on holidays even the mcdonalds drive through. That said I must admit im falling apart waiting for this to show up. and I really hope Amanda doesn't want to do anything on my next day off. She will be very disappointed with my response.

Congrats on the block, but those temps seem high for water. Is it a full block or other?

Ok, was going to put these in PC ATM, but here's fine. Maybe both.

Also cooling 2500K at 4.60GHz. Just a bit higher than my HD 6950 was doing.

And I should add this was running Crysis 3 multiplayer at Very High Settings and OC'd to 1100/1300.


Here's where I started with my Green-Blooded Vulcan. The old GPU hanging helplessly in space with the 290 in it's place.

Shameful I know. Poor old card.

Card cleaned and new pads in place, then block on. They didn't have back plate in stock yet.

And the current state. Need a more cable work, I know. Need to do something the the PCI power. Default cable is ugly.

@PopcornMachine: Man, I really like that, nice little compact pc. Your loops looks good, and it does a good job cooling CPU and GPU with just a dual rad. The EK blocks looks great too! Don't you love how the vram pads now come perforated so you don't have to cut them yourself? I thought that was a terrific little idea

Hey guys,

Today I've tired to install a Antec water cooler on my XFX R9 290, it didn't fit some how, then I assembled the card again but it fails to post somehow, its very strange, because earlier I've tried to re-flash it with R9 290X roms, non of them worked to I re-flashed it to original bios.

No it looks ati flash is failing to pass the test, even I can not re-flash it with any Roms i have tried, I could not find any other posts that this problem happened to anybody else! even flash type is changed, I'm not sure if I broke the board, its looks fine and I have cleaned it 2 times with cleaners and so, then dried it, you see it made me crazy and I tried all different possibilities, from short circuiting to different Roms 128kb and 64kb Roms . please Guide me.

Now I'm running on my old 7970 Asus as primary and this crap is on secondary slot.

What order did you do the things you have done?

i.e - stock bios and cooler - works. Then add water block, it doesn't work, or did it not work when you flashed it before putting a block on it? At what point did you last have it operational and what condition (BIOS version and cooler) was it in?

Have you tried the bios switch?
One should be flashable and the other set at default. Haven't verified that for this card yet.

Almost took a picture of the pads. Maybe I'm easy to please, but I remember last time having to cut them all to the right size. :lol:

Those are max temps I posted. Right now it's idling at 31C.

Think I might need a fatter rad, but don't want any bigger than 2x120. Maybe add a 120 rad up front?
