there are 4k and 8k textures if you know where to look but its a wash.

If using any Ugrid to load settings stick with 2k texture sizes. get the Distant Terrain texture fixes run a higher Ugrid size and get the dat grass mod. then things will look better.

What "mod" are you using for rocks/mountains?

base textures or Skyrim HD the big change is what ENB can do paired with some changes to the specular maps. But its probably skyrim HD not sure havent fired up skyrim in a while and have no mods installed right now.

That is all fine and dandy but it seems like a way for a site to "sucker" in members to make it look as though they are a big site. I just don't see the need in making people "join" in order to download material.
I know a lot of sites do that but I just don't think it is right.

part of signing up to the nexus also allows you comment on mods if your having problems with it and endorse them if you like them endorsed mods go on a top mod chart from most to least endorsed

I never understood the obsession with visual mods for games. Skyrim already looks incredible. If you are standing around admiring the landscape wishing that you saw a few less jaggies in the rock textures then you are not playing the game right.

It's not just about visual, it's an immersion thing, when I stare at something that has a low resolution texture my eyes begin to bleed and cannot unsee the uglyness in it.

Also those memory tweaks\files help when loading mods that increase cell\npcs\scripts count so it's actually a gameplay enhancement too, not only visual.

Also everyone lives a game experience in a different way: If it's not how you think it is supposed to be it doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong, it's just different

It's just people making the game the way they enjoy it. I know when I get into modding I get deep into it and probably go overboard. But just being able to make a game the way I want it to be is very exciting to me. You don't need to stare directly at textures to notice it, sometimes things will catch your eye and make you think, and not having that they is something extremely easy to fix since texture mods are the absolute easiest type of mod to install, why not if you got the computer for it?

I'd say add gameplay enhancement mods and its a whole new game.

One fundamental mod is the bandit overhaul and mobs AI enhancement, makes combat much harder and much funnier, imo.

i get the immersion aspect of visual mods, but i don't get the obsession.

Been waiting for this for some time now. Haven't played in a year or so. The messed up thing is I have played 10-12 diff times and have never gotten into the Thalmor(<---spelling?) compound during the main quest. Bloody mods

I've gotten into the compound, but just by studiously ignoring so many of the other things I wanted to do... which lasted for a couple of hours, when I ignored the main quest, and went back to wandering I think its time to load this back up, update some mods, and play again

My skyrim folder is about 30gb now...so many mods, I think I've spent as much time playing as picking and installing them
