EK Introduces 5.25-Inch D5 Pump/Reservoir Unit

EK Water Blocks, Ljubljana based premium water cooling gear manufacturer, is proud to introduce the latest 5.25" drive bay pump / reservoir combo unit.

EK-BAY RES D5 is high-performance hydraulically improved pump top (volute) for D5 series water pumps with integrated reservoir in a two-slot 5.25" drive bay form factor. This type of design makes the use of now almost abandoned 5.25" drive bay slots in order to provide more room for other components when facing limited space constraints. Made from a high quality POM Acetal this sturdy, monoblock design guarantees maximum reliability and rigidity!





This unit is as straight forward as it can be - it provides one inlet- and one outlet port as well as a filling ports on the top of unit. Integrated anti-cyclone made from acrylic glass effectively prevents excessive vortex formation when using in low hydraulic restriction loops.

EK-BAY RES D5 is designed around anti-vibration rubber mounting system. This floating design effectively silents this pump / reservoir setup by de-coupling it from the rest of the computer chassis.

I like this idea to silent the pump. I recently tried out an XSPC dual bay res/pump combo, and my main complaint is that it was loud. You could hear the it vibrating too much, shaking around and annoying the Yeezuz out of me.

There is a distinct lack of a picture with how it looks from the inside of the reservoir?
Judging from the last pic at http://www.ekwb.com/shop/reservoirs-and-acc/res-pump-combo/ek-d5/ek-bay-res-d5-vario-incl-pump.html it seems the reservoir always has to be filled at least 70% as the inlet is centered?

it does look that way, kinda sucks.

means any coolant with a particulate will just get a res full of it

That's how a D5 pump housing must be. It's a centrifugal pump.
