Dark Souls 2

Holy batman. I haven't wanted to throw my keyboard at my monitor in quite so long. I think that the mouse and keyboard coder for DS2 was an octopus, possibly an Elder God intent on making me suffer through keyboard controls from the 5th circle of hell.

game costs 37 USD in our region, physical copy, will pick it up in a bit.

Tried to play it with ps4 controller but something not right,.but K+M is ok died 3 times on first rat whatever monster and went sleep.today i will get my revenge

Installing...

Which is better, DS1 or DS2? I haven't played either but if I was looking to get into one which should I pick up (for PC)?

I think both games more or less got same focus,#prepare to die#

Same game if you dont like one you wont like the other. That said id go straight into dark souls 2 since there are lots of player activity which is putting the games features to its full potential when it comes to seeing ghosts of other players, blood stains and summoning etc. You will find close to none i think if you were to start the first one now.

For anyone getting new getting into this game I suggest looking at this http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Game+Progress+Route#.U1ppfFfBzb8

Unless of course you'd like to carve your own path by dying countless times to higher level enemies....

People, please buy a x360 controller and stop torturing yourself. PCs can connect to USB devices, they're modular like that. This games deserves to be played with vibration and twin analog sticks for full effect. A controller is literally 20$. Sell one of your case fans if you have to.

True, PCs are modular. That said, I have played countless rpg games on my PC and have never encountered so poor a control implementation. I don't expect anyone to reinvent the wheel here, plenty of rpgs exist to show how it should be done. From Software decided to use a triangle instead, and for this I am disappointed in them.

True. In a perfect world, both controller and keyboard configs would have flawless controls.

However, you have to understand that the engine built around Demon and Dark Souls was specifically designed for a gamepad and console gameplay. The engine of DS2 seems to be the same, save for some new animations and graphical updates. I'm just saying it shouldn't come as a surprise that the keyboard and mouse controls are subpar, they would have to rewrite the entire engine from scratch to accommodate such a configuration.

Some games do kb+m great...Skyrim, New Vegas, etc. But that is Bethesda, where their main focus is primarily PC.

The good news is that this game runs great on PC unmodded compared to the previous iteration (60 FPS boss fights, yaaaay!), and has lots of gfx options this time around. The bad news is one will still need a twin analog vibrational controller to experience the full experience that From envisioned. The good news is that most PC gamers should have a controller by now, it should not be frowned upon, but rather appreciated as an alternative medium of PC gaming.

I loved Demons Souls on my ps3. Very tempted to grab this on pc and use 360 controller. Just not sure I'm in the mood for constant death. Might wait awhile.

Your premise though is incorrect. Bindings are not bound to engine. If that was the case then you're saying a game that implements keyboard and controller controls runs two engines or an engine that is specifically designed to allow both? That's not how it works.

I'm happy that we will be able to mod and fix what From was too lazy to do. They knew that controls were bad in DS1 and did not devote the resources to allowing in depth binding of them. The benefit to PC gaming is that I have the option to use a controller or keyboard depending on what I prefer not what I need to use because of lack of coding motivation.

I managed to make work my PS$ controller for DS2 but still not quite as good as I hoped, probably will need to wait for some fixes ect ect.TOo bad they dont have ingame option to configure COntrollers, but only keys for keyboard.

Found some tweaks for PS4 gamepad now it works as it should be.
Still doing tutorial need to kill 2 rat-mutant monsters down the lake

Oh, i beat you there.... 20 deaths, pah, that's just a head cold. I'm slowly getting used to the idea of amassing souls and then getting my ass to a bonfire to level up or repair. Don't know how many times I've had 1500+ souls lost in death and then lost for good dying trying to retrieve them...

Keyboard and mouse work fine apart from occasional targeting mishaps.

I would do that with SOrc aswell,or any other ranged hero,But this time I went with Dual sword style. Its hard but I enjoy it.TO bad u cant invite friends to join your party but its kind of random encounters like in previous part.

Have you already finished Heide's Tower and then No Man's Wharf? If not then you should start with these 2 first.. I made the same mistake before but I got carried through by 2 shades and ended up with lots of souls.
