Not sure. Use trixx and it should be +12 by default also swap them babies around. The top card is going to work harder so you'll be able to volt it up higher ;)

I can't see your screen shot. I'm roaming in the states and have my browser image disabled to save data. It makes a difference but every card is different so its up to you. What are your cards stock clocks? You on air?

Im on the 290x bioses so stock clocks are 1000MHz core/ 1250Mhz memory.

Im on Gpu universal water blocks and heatsinked vrms and Ram.

Ah I had to go back a page. Dump the Asus bios as its junk anyways. If your reference use AMD reference bios only for better compatibility. I've messed with a few difference bios and all they did is run glitchy and hotter then normal.

Its kinda hard to help if your bios is of another breed there bud in all honesty. I'd flash back and then let's talk ok?

And your warrenty isn't void if you flash back. Its void if you hand it in with another bios on it lol.

Though BIOSes look the same there are differences in them even reference ones. It all depends what's coded to them as in how good the memory is and such. Memory timings on the card or and or can be different so to save a hassle flash back.

I'm out off to bed. Good luck and will check back in the morning. Good luck.
Oh and what is the factory non flashed clocks?

The warranty id say is voided because there was a sticker on the back where you unscrew the gpu back bracket to take it off the stock heatsink. It was on one of the little screws. Id say its an Asus thing. Once they see that removed (it was impossible to lift off, it just kept on flaking apart) I dont think they will give me warranty.

I can try the AMD original bios if you think thats the way to go.

Stock clocks for the 290s are 947/1250.

Ive flashed the uber bios with the 290x bios and of course saved the original so it can easily be flashed back.

Cheers.

Tbh I don't think it matters if the tiny sticker is gone. Call Asus and ask them. I'd bet they say as long as the factory cooler and every single screw is there warrenty won't be an issue. I've got msi and I specifically asked about the same thing. And I just told you what they said.

If your clocks are 947 then when clocking try to clock like this... Start at 1007 then 1017, 1027,1037,ect ect.. Keep the last number @7 ok and see how that works for ya. Good chance it will work. Also set the voltage to 150mv and power to 25 or 50 your choice but it really don't matter.

And I had the best clocks using the reference msi bios on a non reference. I made sure to stick with the same vendor and get this, my card is a 1007,card and I flashed to a 947mhz bios so think about it. Just stay away from the X bios because memory timings and voltages are different then a non X card.

Also set the voltage to 150mv

I've been curious about this, but when you up the core voltage, is that just increasing the headroom the core will go up to, if necessary, or is it actually boosting the coreV at all times?

Its boosting the core voltage. Headroom depends on how good the chip is imo

If memory is indeed tied to the cores voltage my memory don't like it. If I take it to the max at +200mv it just crashe but I'm still trying to figure that one out myself.

I mean like, does the core stay at the boosted voltage, or only go up to it if it needs to? Sort of like the power envelope. I don't notice increased power usage at say, idle, whether it's at 0% or 50%.

Dude you got a DCUII so do not use the reference AMD BIOS the VRMs are different(very very different) and you will brick the cards. Only use other R9 290(X) DCUII BIOSes. Because you have the custom asus PCB design it is very possible that voltages are locked but the OCing software doesn't notice. The voltage measured by W1zzad on his R9 290X DCUII was 1150mv at stock so yours is the same or maybe less. There is also a possibility that ASUS cheaped out on some of the VRM components(very likely as W1zz's review sample clocked badly too but Guru 3D got excellent OK clocks with +150mv) and so the cards are not gonna OC that well or the low stock voltage is getting in the way and you should use +50mv or +100mv to get 1.2 or 1.25V.

I've been curious about this, but when you up the core voltage, is that just increasing the headroom the core will go up to, if necessary, or is it actually boosting the coreV at all times?
Core voltage has a really weird behavior that is bound to temp and goes something like this:
+200mv upto 60C = 1.4V
+200mv upto 70C = 1.35V
+200mv upto 80C = 1.3V This is where high clocks typically crash
+200mv upto 85C = 1.2V
+200mv upto 90C = 1.15V
+200mv upto 95C = 1.1V This is where everything other than stock clocks crash
This is only true for the reference design cards.

Strange, I guess I've been too conservative with increasing the voltage. I've had stable OC's up to 1100Mhz at +25mv in FireStrike Extreme, but then get crashes in games or while Folding. Guess I'll give it some more juice and see what it does.

The voltage curve cause weird behaviors once your cooling starts getting into the 80C range because lower voltages produce less heat and therefore lower voltage drop resulting in OC ranges of 200mv and 175mv being almost exactly the same when using air cooling.

Rarely goes over 80C at 100%, but I won't have any issues once I get it on water.

So recently I've had a good look at the Windforce 3X cooler and I decide that it needs bigger fans either a pair of 120s or 3 100s because the 75mm(I know GB says they are 80 or something but all of my rulers disagree) fans that gigabyte used while sufficient are a bit loud and don't actually push air through all the fins they only push though about 80% so and when I run benchmarks every fin in the stacks gets hot(like really hot) meaning that the cooler could definitely use a slight upgrade and what better way to do that than with zipties and over sized fans. :D
I will put up a video about if it was worth it or not if my internet allows(3.5Mb/s down 0.17 Mb/s up).

So far so good the system booted and both cards posted even though I had a massive blob of CLU touching the little cube resistors and ICs around the GPU core.
Damn it all I have windows updates to install. Also my CPU thought it be funny to scare me by refusing to booted 5.0Ghz(it does this at random times for no reason at all so it's definitely not degrading it's just one of those days that it decides to troll me).
Both cards are recognized by the OS and are running CFX. However the LED Xigmatek XAF fans + exposed copper heatpipes make some incredibly distracting reflections.
The CPU is still trolling.
Ok time to start testing.
Room temp 22C°
Testing software: Planetside 2 because ever since the crossfire patch this is the most demading game I have installed.
Ok so I solved the driver crisis I ran into and now I can start testing to see if the mod is worth the pain or not.
Unfortunately the CLU seems to have leaked after being warmed up so I need to dismantle the whole thing clean out the CLU and try tomorrow. This is gonna waste sooo many zipties if it keeps going this badly.

I am running R9 290 Crossfire with reference and Non-Reference card .Temps and fan speed on air seem to me to be pretty good.

Regular gaming BF4 max GPU fan speed 59% Max Temp 74 on Reference card on air.

Let me take a stab at this, the reference is in the bottom slot right?

And my 290 @ 1100/1400 runs the max setting min Furmark test at 71c

Ahhhhhhhh #ncix you idiots!!! wheres my RMA card!!
