wait...

what is the difference between this and 295X2?
The name :p
It mostly is going to be that its an air cooled card, with 4 8 pin connectors, and a coolness factor that's off the charts (lol).

I wish to see the price of these, depending on where it is it could end up being a game changer for the dual GPU wars at the moment (Meaning mostly if its cheaper than reference which in reality is a long shot considering what it comes with).

oh the name :p :slap:

well, would like to see how an air cooler would cool this dual gpu hawaii. Everybody knows that hawaii chips are very hot.

But the name dual core? wow, maybe somebody will make quad core GPU

If they do, they will have earned some free business from me because saying I have a Quad GPU card in my system would just sound amazing :p.

wait...

what is the difference between this and 295X2?
well its a non official 295X2 just like a Asus ARES II to the 7990

but the 295x2 chips work at a higher frequencies than a 290X so this one is on air dual slot can be OC even more and quad 8pin ... yet i fail to see its viability versus the 295x2 unless the price is around 2x a 290X
altho the difference is obvious : Air cooling :D:roll:

I am sure alot will buy the "dual core" if it is alot cheaper than 295X2. Cause I am sure, if somebody buy this, they will put them under water. Air cooling 290x chips are a "no go" as the chips are very very very hot

Well you can, the after market cooling solutions provided decent cooling and kept temps at the normal expected levels of any aftermarket card. I think in this case with the dual GPU variant, its going to come down to how well this new design works at dissipating that much heat. Either way though if I had been a patient man I should have waited for something like this and bought a pair of these over my trio of 290X cards and put some EK blocks with dual slot adapters for a quad GPU setup and moved to a smaller form factor once Haswell-E came around.

Its a neat card, but its going to come down to where the price is. I am kinda worried that its going to be around the same or more for it because of all the modifications and the mouse included.

The irony is that this round it is completely reversed from the 7990 idea. Last round it was a 3 fan cooler reference with an AIO liquid cooler on the aftermarket version (Ares II), now its an AIO for the reference model and a 3 Fan cooler for the aftermarket!

totally what i thought when i saw that
also i am quite delighted i will get a reference R9 290 for cheap soon if the prolimatech MK-26 i have fits on it i might use a dual 140mm on it with some vrm/ram heatsink (the one bundled with the MK-26 are all unusable xD)

I know, its such a weird concept in my book with this system!
Yea, I kinda wish I had just waited it out and bought mine as cheap as they are now. I mean I payed 550 for each of my 290X with BF4 coupons before the price hike kicked in (PowerColor models were for some reason slow on newegg to jump up in price). I now though wish I had waited for this card because I could have bought 2 of these things and made a Micro-ATX machine. I actually may for fun sell off 2 of my 290X's and grab one of these to do a Tri-Fire system with it in a small package depending on the price.:D
