Hi guys I want to install a 1394 firewire card to my mother board, because, to my surprise there is no where I can plug my camcorder into my computer! I have a 1394 card here but it don't fit my mother board, can anyone send me a link to the type of card I need?
You probably need a PCI-E
maybe this one?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815166018
or this
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002S53IG8/?tag=tec06d-20

Make sure you read the reviews, I have no idea which is better and there are definitely other choices, you want a PCI-E to 1394 Firewire Card

HI ,I hope your right, I tryed to install one like this ,http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...FireWire_1394_Card-_-9SIA4GW1ET8670-_-Product but it don't fit. Thanks again
Sorry to hear that, my guess is because that card you tried to install is PCI it doesn't work. You need a PCI slot but you have PCI-E (PCI-Express) which is a more modern interface. A PCI-E card should work.

Your board has 3 full length PCI-E Slots and 4 short PCI-E x1 slots to choose from. You should be able to install a PCI-E 1394 x1 card into any of those.

The amazon Syba card doesn't appear to require additional power but the Rosewill does, so I'd think the Syba would be more useful. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002S53IG8/?tag=tec06d-20

edit:
This one looks good
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001JTTVT2/?tag=tec06d-20

Reviews indicate some of these have compatibility issues between the firewire, operating system, and what you plug into it so do some research with the reviews on these products.

I've had extremely good luck on e-bay. I've bought CPU's, RAM, ard Drives, and a GPU on there. None have had a problem. Likewise, I've only sold motherboards and GPU's on there that are exactly as advertised. I think you should be fine.
Speaking of motherboards,I have 3 mother boards and a couple video cards, couple processors, that I took out of my Hp Blackbird computer (The starter of this topic) anyone interested,is there a special spot on here to sell this stuff?

Be absolutely sure you read the rules for that forum. That way you will understand what is needed in the seller's original post. :toast:

Oh, should I not have given him the link?

No no that's fine. He just needs to be sure he understands the rules before posting a for sale thread.

Hi friends, its been a long time since i visited this post but sadly I have to report "I think" my upgraded motherboard as died.............it was the MSI Z87-G45 GAMING motherboard I went with.
I have checked the power supply, i have checked the video cards, but iam not getting any post from my computer to my monitors, and yes both monitors work fine as well.
Is there one way i can test my motherboard before i decide to look for another one? I also have 3 other motherboards here,( as a test) can I not simply plug one of them into the power supply and add a video card, just to check to see if i can get life on either before i to install one of them if i want to use one until i get a new one?
Thanks for everyone's help.
