When they add the constellation to arena commander later this year they'll sell cross-chassis upgrades. What the minimum ship needed for the upgrade is I don't know but they will be available eventually (allowing you to get one with LTI). Of course the question is will they let more people get Phoenix variants by then..

I'd keep the gladiator tbh, at least for now. There's nothing you can do with a connie currently and by the time you can do something with one the cross chassis upgrades will be out.

They aren't hitting until v0.9 which is due out in around 2 weeks. Speeds will be doubled, so I imagine we'll see a lot more people crashing into things as their ships will take a while to slow down and change direction.

Thanks for posting that! It affirmed my previous decision to not upgrade my Andromeda: losing a turret, a lot of missiles, and having a juicy target on the top of the ship(the glass canopy) puts me off of upgrading my LTI Andromeda for it. It is gorgeous, however. That being said, seeing it in the video made me mad I chose the 350r over the M50. The M50 is glorious, especially when you walked around behind it and showed off just how big the thrusters look in correlation to the rest of the ship... Though, I suppose when racing does arrive, they'll probably be on par with each other. The M50 seems like it would have a harder time maneuvering around obstacles and turns due to the immense g-force.

I'm perfectly happy with my LTI Andromeda too. The Phoenix looks nice and all, but I'm not willing to sacrifice so much cargo space just to pimp my ride.
The M50 is darn sexy, but I'll save some ships to pick up in-game!

Ha, exactly what I had in mind for my 350r(granted the 350r will be confined to information runner, since it ha no cargo space at all, lol).
I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one who is keeping the Andromeda.

None of the other variants seem to be anything that I want. If they had a mil-spec version, I may jump on that, but at least with the Andromeda I feel like it has the most options for in game upgrades etc.

Good memory. Yes, the 350r is believed to be faster due to not having any cargo space, having a larger power plant, and it's more structurally sound meaning it can take higher g-loads during maneuvering. What the M50 has going for it is size(it is one of the smallest ships, currently, and that should help with its signature) and mass, the fact that it has 4 cargo slots, and a much higher thrust:mass ratio. I'm actually kicking myself in the ass for not having gotten an M50.
Of course, at this point, it's all speculation as to which is faster. We'll need access to upgraded parts and the ability to tune the ships and parts, as well as final balancing, to know for sure which is fastest. Luckily, it seems like we may get the ability to tune our racers in v0.9.

AMD accidentally leaked the Mustang's release date: September 30. It also seems we're going to have variants from the start, as AMD is giving away "Mustang Omega Variant Racer" ships with it's newest round of game bundles.

Ah, didn't see that it kept the bottom turret in the specs, just noticed it didn't have one equipped. Also, I'll happily keep my 28 size 1 missiles over 18 additional size 2. Chances are, they'll be cheaper to replenish, higher velocity(for taking out smaller targets), and frankly, seeing 48 missiles launch at once will be more terrifying than 38. On top of that, I don't feel like nearly halving my cargo space(1100 cargo units on the Andromeda, 540 on the Phoenix) and painting a target on my back(the glass canopy). When a ship says multi-role, it better be good at numerous roles besides looking good and transporting the UEE's one-percenters. I'd much rather face pirates after my cargo in an Andromeda than a Phoenix, and I doubt my mindset will change.
Of course, one can always just earn a Phoenix in the 'verse.

To be honest, I prefer the 350r too, but wish I had both. I might end up picking up a Mustang racer as well, depending on its specs. Racing seems like it'll be a lot of fun.

From what I can see the M50 beats the 350R in the engine to size ratio department.

I was talking physically... The 300.series is all engine and thrusters. I think the 350r will end up being faster, but the M50 will be quicker off the line and in the turns.
