I wouldn't buy any Gold unit at this rate, especially at this watt range since I personally care about every watt of efficiency. Platinum is the way to go at this time and date. Earth matters, even if talking about small watts.

Yes, 80Plus gold and platinum PSUs need good components to get efficiency, but no one can promise you extremely stable and clean power. That's what tests are for.

My point exactly...I have this PSU's platinum bro and although I love it, my Cooler Master V1000 is a platinum psu that is sold as a gold unit and is just as solid.

Not touching in what way? Efficiency wise a unit that does Platinum will generally hold it's ground against a Gold rated unit. I'm not talking about performance or build quality here.

A lot question whether it is actually needed and depending on the manufacturer it also does equate to build value/performance. The V1000 also misses the Platinum standard in the hot box by a small margin but clears the Gold margin by a land slide. As I've stated before there's plenty of Platinum PSUs in which this Seasonic will destroy.

I'm not sure why you're mentioning that as nobody here says higher efficiency instantly equals to a higher quality build.

The San Ace 120 used on this unit should be completely fine in normal usage. I had an AX760i with a Sanyo fan, and the fan turned very slowly even at high loads. Yeah, that unit had a better fan curve but still. It's because the tests are done in a clean room box where the fan is the only thing that is absorbed from the outside sound that makes noise.

It's not really taking it to extreme. It's doing it right, again, only in my personal opinion. I wouldn't buy Gold when Platinum has settled for a few years. And yes, sure I can save watts by ditching my parts but then again why should I ditch such parts?

This scenario mimics the transient response tests you perform, but I didn't see any mention of that behavior. I am wondering if this is a characteristic of this model or if it is just the one I own making that noise.

Some parts (not just PSU's) make clicking noises when changing PWM frequencies. It happens to some PSU's especially at the first cold boot, and can be emitted with a soft-start circuit.

It's likely not a characteristic of this unit and something that only happens to some. And I believe your PSU is the old X1250 and not the XM2?

When the Chromas are in operation they cover every noise coming from the PSU so even if there is such a noise, which I doubt, I wouldn't be able to hear it.
Better contact with Seasonic support and inform them about this noise and they will advise you whether it is normal or not. Personally I don't think that it is normal IF it comes from the PSU, because it might be from another component inside your PC (it is very difficult to find the noise source inside a PC, or to put it better to be 100% sure for its origin).
