Look at the oil on the memory chips!

Thermal paste was rock hard

The end result that would normally take me 10 min took over an hour...

Nice! Question for you, if you don't mind; did u remove the memory/VRM plus the back plate and clean out the oil on the chips?

I did clean the GPU but the improvements were nowhere near your results. Would greatly appreciate any help.

That looks like a used card caked with dust and junk from fans blowing on it, not a new one.

No because how can dust get under the main long thermal pad. The one that's about 4" long? The card was taking apart buy the previous owner and sent it back for RMA. RMA quality control probably stuck into a test machine and it came back as ok so into the replacement rma bin it went and I ended up getting the junk someone passed off as not working. I gots lots of pictures and emailed the canadianmsi guy thstsent this card to me. I also linked him here so he can see the crap I ended up getting.

Asus did the same thing on a maximus board a few years back. Sent me someone else's board.. It had bent fan header pins.. Caps were laying over and believe it or not but one of the two bios chips were missing. I called asus in Canada and Tom sent me out a brand new board. I had it on my door step 2 days later. It was totally unexpected and that's why I always buy asus boards when I upgrade.

I hope msi steps up to the plate on this one because I AM NOT HAPPY and as much as I love there cards its going to be the last msi anything I ever buy in the future.

@neliz I know you've been busy as all heck but what do.you think of this being an msi rep?

Today's update.. I was quite happy @ Alex Chang from MSI. He took this real seriously and more curious why the Canadian side issued me a faulty card. He sent an email off to the Canadian side and also forwarded my email to his supervisor in the united states and said they will see what can be done to correct this problem.

Will post more as news comes to light.

" They Will See" doesnt exactly put my confidence in them. They need to give you a brand new R2.0 board

James Yu from the Canadian MSI side admitted they have no new cards.

He in fact started a new RMA for me, as the one I created takes a few days when one return's an RMA.

This sped things up real fast, and at the mean time his colleague is testing cards to suite my wants.

I'm so far impressed on how well and how fast they're processing this.

Also there sending me out shipping labels so I don't need to pay for shipping...

Thats cool of them!! and Hey, as long as I get what I want I'm MSI all the way!

Asus steped upto the plate a year or so ago and MSI is doing the same!

I'll keep all updated as this progresses :pimp:

Posting my own post ,

*update*

MSI from Canada James Yu has emailed me the shipping labels.

I got it printed off, and going to drop it off at the couriers station for fast shipping in the morning.

Just tonight James also sent the form already filled out to slip into the box and they have already picked and tested the card thats been set aside for me.

Im thinking Ill be back in crossfire action by the end of next week if not mid week.

Will keep posting as things progress.

So far I'm impressed on the action that's been taken to satisfy me in this ordeal.

@MSI Staff thank you

EDIT:

MSI sent me return labels last week and I sent the card back on friday.

I sent James Yu from MSI an email saying Nobody will be home to sign for the package and he asked when Id be home.

I told him Wednesday night. He sent me tracking yesterday and wouldn't you know it just after lunch Purolator Courier was at my door.

I could tell this card was gone over and tested. There were labels on the box showing that it wasn't a random picked card off the shelf.

I must say MSI has done it again!

I'm very, very happy with this card. It's a high ASIC and runs nice and cool even being in the top slot running crossfire.

Id like to Thank MSI Canada and especially James Yu that took the time to test a few cards and send me a real good RMA back.

Ran valley and look at the max temps.

The case was closed up too :D

The left Gpu-z is the RMA replacement card in the top slot with it sucking the heat off the sister card right below it.

Im not complaining one bit :peace:

what version of the cards are those? with what bios?
first card is a V1 and stock bios, #2 card is V3 and also factory bios.

*update* my rma card started to hit 94c while bennching, I pulled it apart todayand cleaned it with the articlean and new MX-4 paste.
Temp had dropped into the 80's now. I sure hope the new breed AMD is bringing out runs alot cooler ;)
