Here are the first PCB shots of NVIDIA's next-gen flagship graphics card, the GeForce GTX TITAN-X. At the heart of this beast is the swanky new 28 nm GM200 silicon, which is rumored to feature 3072 CUDA cores based on the "Maxwell" architecture, a 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, with NVIDIA's latest memory bandwidth management mojo, a staggering 96 ROPs, and 12 GB of memory. The design goal is probably 4K to 5K gaming with a single card, at reasonably high settings. The GM200 silicon appears slightly bigger than the GK110, NVIDIA's previous big chip.

The display I/O of this card looks identical to that of the GTX 980. We're not sure if the DVI connector will make it to the final design. There are no shots of the VRM, although given this architecture's track-record, we don't expect the TITAN-X to have any heavier power requirements than the GTX 780 Ti (6-pin + 8-pin power inputs). NVIDIA is expected to launch the GTX TITAN-X within this quarter. Don't hold off on your GTX 980 purchases just yet, because NVIDIA tends to overprice its "TITAN" branded graphics cards.

Not likely with the 384-bit bus on this. Probably be a 6GB card IMO.
6GB or possibly 12GB (if they plan on the prosumer market segment). 4GB would mean an asymmetric memory configuration which wouldn't appear on a halo part - nor would Nvidia take a backwards step from the 6GB per GPU of previous Titan branded cards.

I say always buy the card/CPU mostly based on performance per dollar, that is the only way to punish capitalist companies for overpricing their products. And why do they price workstation cards so high, when they are consumer cards+workstation label?

The card seam to be using 12 mem chips on each side
Well it would need to if it were a 12GB card.

The modules are labelled H5GQ4H24MFR-R2C. They are 4Gb IC's (512MB). 512 x 24 = 12288MB = 12GB

My bad I was looking at this SkHynix datasheet

H5GQ4H24MFR-R2C 128x32

Yeah, they are 4Gb IC's. 128Mb x 32-bit I/O = 4096Mb = 4Gb = 512MB

Edit: Edited for simplicity

So, 4Gb Hynix chips and not 8Gb Samsung ones like bta guessed.
tsk tsk...

About the capacity - i do see titan carry 12GB, i do not see Ti SKU carry 12GB
What seperated TITAN from 780 TI was the double memory, and it really played for the TITAN in many cases. Most chances are that the consumer edition (Ti? 1000-series?) will have only 6GB of VRAM

The pictures are of a test/validation board. The reference models might differ somewhat. Also bear in mind this could be a Quadro M6000, which typically utilise slower vRAM settings with an emphasis on stability over speed.
I wouldn't write off the possibility of 8Gbps GDDR5 being used in desktop variants. Samsung are producing it for a reason, and if AMD are using HBM who else is a likely customer?

Sure. changing VRAM model is a matter of mare days for AIB's. Not a big deal.

well you can't blame it all to the people, wherever you look, on tech sites, even at nvidia's own site, it is hailed as a "gaming card"

Nvidia also target CUDA devs with the same card, so I guess it depends on what your primary focus is as to where you might encounter the marketing - "wherever you look" might not necessarily be where other people look - although if you're polling a gaming-orientated site it won't come as a surprise where they see it. I gather plenty of people use a card for more than one purpose, even if its primary marketing focus is (unsurprisingly) the largest market - gaming.
The Titan-Z might not have found many homes...anywhere, but there is plenty of evidence of Titan/Titan Black being used in non-gaming workloads, especially those coded for CUDA.

Will see when when the card is issued how much nVidia is again greedy .However, since even at GTX 980 28nm model the medium processor showed 100% of the price excessive gluttony do not expect differences unless the AMD again did TITAN kiler in the R-300 series and deliver normal price 500 $ ! I hope that this will be as shown by the results of this tests is expected.in addition, we know that nVidia did not opened all cores and were forced do it. Nor does it brag, not guess. wait a little. Prefer to buy 4 x AMD NOT 2x nVidia at known prices .Will se ,will se..

And will a 980 TI be released a few months after? :)

Nope, not until AMD has a better option. GTX 780 Ti (and TITAN Black) was necessitated by R9 290 which pwned GTX 780 and R9 290X, which pwned GTX TITAN.

I would bet they will and we will see a GM210 gaming GPU shortly after that. Competition is a good thing for consumers.
