The new EVGA SuperNova GS 550 and 650 watts are fully modular versions of the Seasonic G, the rest of the GS and PS series are Seasonic KM3 based units.
Or at least that is what EVGA Jacob told me they where.
I figured it was something to that effect, and thank you. Glad to see so many people in close contact with evga...that's reassuring.
It not being my forte' nor something I keep a close eye on, I didn't consider (although I should) the differences of km3, xm2 etc.
While it seems being tailored to lower wattages vs higher, is there anything about the km3 at the crossover of ~1kw that should be a concern? I suppose 12v may droop a little under a super heavy load, but I don't foresee myself doing that. I'm mostly hoping/planning for quiet/efficient with a 2x300w dual-card setup and overclocked cpu load (at max)...while keeping it short so I can grab a similar-ish htpc case to what I have now (something like a GD09/GD10).
The gold 1050w being $140AR at this moment looks somewhat intriguing, at least compared to similar competition by the likes of CM. That said, a short 1kw plat is also appealing (if it can actually perform that well consistently using that platform) if it isn't incredibly noisy.
