So i have GTA V retail with the 7 disks. The disks won't read on two of my machines, it will read on a third, but I'd rather not have it on that machine AND it reads slow, with the disk in the drive its very unresponsive, almost like the disk is garbage.

I could make ISOs of the disks but I have read online that even if it does install from disk, there are errors on the disk 1 portion of install.

I entered the cd key into rockstar's site to download it, but the download speed went from the initial 8mb/s all the way to 22kbs. Is it my ISP throttling or is it rockstar? This is enfuriating because at this rate I might not have it downloaded for another day!

Is it rockstar's server ?

Should I keep trying to install with the disks (make images) or will that install bug out, or require a massive patch download?

This has worked for some people, perhaps give it a try. Hope it works.


1) pause Social Club, and close it.

2) go to game folder and delete '.part file

3) Star Social Club again, and start dl

now i have full dl speed 3-7 gb data..

4) Repeat 1-2-3

look like it works, no data lost etc.

Reayth and I played it about a week ago.......I uninstalled it soon after. Battlelog was 100% dead. No one from TPU was playing. The game just felt old and bland.

For shame, sir, for shame. Played my first round in almost 3 months night before last, it was loads of fun, even got to hear Erocker whine about queue time and the like. Old and bland sounds like your hand was in your pants.

I just found one annoying thing, but thats not about GTA V, when I do alt-tab getting to desktop, my wireless xbox360 controller is turning off after several minutes.
When I switch my controller back on and go back into the game, my controller is no longer working in the game and have to restart the game.

As said above, on GF Experience settings I got slightly sick after hours. My ingame benchmark was 50-60 fps (GTX980 and 2500x1400 monitor).
I started reducing several filters, distance sliders, shadows, but not texture or effects quality, and now my fps are 120-70 and it looks the same. Much better for my head and better for deathmachs, etc.

At guru3D they have some extensive benchmarks with lots of cards.

Thanks, that's good to know, our system spec are pretty much close and I also use 20 inch LED, 1600x900

You can crank a bit more performance i think. Game almost maxes out all 4 cores on my CPU when playing, GPU ranging from 70-99. I won't upgrade my ol monitor unless i get a new GPU.
I kinda don't like the DoF in the game, it blurs nearby things thats out of focus, id rather have it blur more distant buildings and mountains and objects

I take it you mean the 3570k you have listed in your spec chart? If so, that is certainly better than my i7 950. I'm a bit worried my 950 will cause me to have to lower settings.

I've heard one person say graphics are not all that good, and he has pretty high spec. Can you guys post up some screens? How does it compare to the pristine screens that were posted pre launch?

Yep, 3570K clocked at 4Ghz for now (its summer here now and i dont like seeing it go high temp in 4.4Ghz) I don't think you will have much issue on your CPU, game likes them Intel CPUs, the i3's are tagging along with the FX 9xxx and 8xxx

Yea, I let GF Experience optimize mine and I went from 60fps solid to 19-52fps... I looked through what changes it was making and it was only a few settings that where off like AA.. Now, I have to figure out my old settings again.. lol I really don't see a difference either from what I had except it's really unplayable.. in some places and I didn't have any of these issues before the "Optimize".. This is the first time it's let me down. I'll probably pick up another SSD today and move it over to it as well.

I have seen some things here and there that need to be tweaked but this launch is leaps and bounds over BF4 shotty release. I have not had a single game crash yet *knocks on wood*. My 970 I run completely maxed out at around 50-60FPS in the city but I did notice when you get in the northern parts with grass it drops to like 35-45. I am going to do the setting like erocker has and see what it does.

Now that I'm at work I'm wondering if it was windows 10 preview doing something in the back ground.. I'm really not digging windows 10 at the moment. I'll probably put Windows 8.1 pro on tonight. Windows 10 has a new update that keeps failing. Sometimes it's solid and other times it feels shotty.. Does anyone else have Windows 10 and using it to play GTA V? It tried to update between the first time I played it and last night and failed and then rolled back settings. I wonder if it hosed my Video driver.. Hmm.. Before anybody says it yea I know it's just a preview.. I've just been to busy to put 8.1 on my new itx build. And I really wanted to test out the new start menu.. I like start8 better with 8.1. Now I'm starting to get the shakes.. I need to steal an automobile and jump out of the car going as fast as I can then get up and bump into someone and then kick their ass and take there loot.. Installing an SSD and 8.1 will take away from game time.. Oh and I can't forget having to back it up.. lol

I'm getting 50-100 fps on my rig and am very happy. Everything is on very high @ 1080p. The only thing I haven't changed is the advanced settings with enhanced draw distance and all that jazz as I'm hoppy how it looks at the moment.

Everything I have in my system is from when I was working as a Lab Engineer at Microsoft for almost 2 years before heading off the college. I haven't done anything to my system since then.

Well actually I guess, I got a Qnix 1440p a few months ago, but was only able to do that when I sold a bunch of stuff I didnt need anymore, and now im out of things to sell to come up with funds.

I had the 15.3s installed the day I installed the game & it crashed. The next day I used DDU & installed the 15.4 drivers & I have not experienced a single crash since I upgraded my drivers to the 15.4s.
