Well, after playing it more, I DO see more sense to the 3 way roleplaying than some reviewers gave credit for it. It's still largely the humorous dialogue and incidents that are keeping me engrossed though, so far anyway. The first mission with Chop cracked me up when he got, let's say, distracted. LOL
Admittedly not all Niko's stuff was good. He had some great gritty moments and humorous comebacks, but by the end of the game his self pity grew a bit long in the tooth. The characters here are more in keeping with what you'd expect from LA area hoodlums and gang bangers too.
Quite frankly I'll be delighted if my skepticism about the story and characters is all for naught, like it was with car handling. For now I'm just playing it in bits and pieces to try and slowly savor every bit of it. This could very well end up being my blockbuster title of the year.
