I see they used Titan X SLI in a beast of a machine and 4x TXAA in all settings comparisons ... very useful nvidia, all I need is couple of months to calculate how would all that translate to more common setup.

OK, I know at this point I sound like I'm ranting non stop, but before I continue, let me clarify it's not that the game isn't fun. It has many fun, exciting and unpredictable moments. The problem is, it's also filled with frustrations.
I'm talking about the common crash to desktop when switching characters. Latest one was during the "Blitz Play" heist. I came to find it was not just a few. There's a numerous page thread on Rockstar's forum filled with post after post complaining of the same problem.
Now apparently a workaround was found whereby you park the getaway car as closely to Michael's spawn point as you can, then drive there before the auto teleport/switch happens. Thus it would appear it's the teleport/switch feature itself that is the problem.
There's apparently another workaround whereby you can choose to kill yourself 3 times in a row after destroying one of the heist vehicles, which gives you an option to skip the mission, but I really don't want to do that. I'd rather play all the heists, they're the best parts of the game.
However, those using the aforementioned workarounds have reported the same thing happens with the following heist, and I see no workaround mentioned for it. So at this point I have to wonder how anyone playing the PC version can even get through the entire game.
What's annoying as well, is after numerous pages of people echoing their frustrations with this, it looks as if Rockstart are remaining silent. There's been 2 or 3 patch releases, and not ONE release note addressing this. Surely they must be aware by now of this huge bug?
Furthermore, I tried to circumvent replaying a whole half hour to hour's worth of gameplay again after the crash reverted me somewhat back to a prior save, but no matter whether I sleep saved or quick saved, the save would not register.
It appears as well many are having random crashes now and then when manually switching characters, so it doesn't just happen when the game auto switches them for you on missions. I've had it happen myself several times.
I mean DAMN, they twice pushed this game back, totalling several months of delay, only to find it's about as polished as month old turd! I remember in GTA IV with my X1950Pro, I had to shelve the game for a while to wait for them to patch the severe shadow and lighting problem it had with those GPUs.
It's looking like I'm better off waiting with this one too, because playing it in this condition is ruining the experience for me. Is Rockstar degrading to Ubi level development? I used to think their staggering releases was beneficial, now I'm not so sure. Maybe it is optimization wise, but this is actually buggier than some Ubi games.
Complaining about CTDs in heists that numerous players are experiencing is hardly "nit picking". Maybe you don't mind being an ass kissing sycophant, but some actually expect a certain level of QC when they're waiting nearly two years for a proper PC version of a title.
It's optimized well, but in nearly two years time of extra development, it damn well SHOULD be. It's buggier than most Ubi titles though, which is just not acceptable.

Then why the hell didn't you say that in the first place instead of implying I'm complaining too much? You're seriously waffling dude.
And as far as patches go, I've yet to see ONE person say the latest patch fixes the character switch CTD, and it's not been in the release notes either. In fact if anything, I've only seen people say it DOESN'T fix it, which is why there are SO many people on Rockstar's forum complaining of it.

Ugh, that sounds awful, I'd be frustrated as hell if that sort of thing happened to me, so far I haven't had a technical problem what so ever up to and through the
Union Depositiory
job, which seems pretty close to the end of the storyline.
I don't really like the game, but that maybe because I don't know what I'm doing. I have never played GTA before.
I can say that the online mode is complete junk. It's harder to play, and more confusing them PlanetSide2 was two years ago when you were just stuck into instant action and killed in about 5 seconds if you were lucky. If you were unlucky you would have died in 2 seconds.
Jen-hsun Huang: I wan't GTA5 performance guide article to show how we can run everything maxed and above 60 fps at all times at 4K
Engineer: But boss, that would mean using Titan X SLI
Jen-hsun Huang: I don't care, make it happen, and if I see any jaggies ...
Engineer: Impossible, 4K is out of the question then
Jen-hsun Huang: You are fired!
Another Engineer: Boss, if we drop to 3K we can even do temporal antialiasing then ...
Jen-hsun Huang: You are also fired! I'll do the article myself then you'll see what's actually possible!
After buying a 1,000,000 car in game, and the game removing it on reload I found that there is an interesting trainer.
That however caused a crash of sorts after trying the skin changer and turning into a fish on land.
Thought id share, Ive had it on ps4 a while so obv love the game, a mate got it on pc before me and i only the other night saw his 4gig gtx680 do quite well using DSR to get a glimpse of 4K performance, and i was taken aback by how much better it looked.
i can max most of it at 1080P as can his pc but 4K is going to take a shit load of Vram and gpu to get 60fps smooth, but i could deff play this at 4k with some sliders lowered (not many HDshadows poss msAA off(its 4k jaggies beta be gone)) etc and its made a 4k monitor my slaver item of the minute.
I too was a bit shocked at the difference between the PS4 and PC version. I don't know if I'm playing it totally maxed out but I'm damn close I'm sure. My GTX 980 eats it up nicely. 'course I play at 1920x1080.
For anyone else having the CTD when the final auto character switch happens in Blitz Play, I can confirm that what I read about not planting or tossing any explosives while on foot fixes it. Apparently this same workaround fixes the same problem in the following heist, I can only hope it does.
When you have to blow the armored car, just stay in the tow truck and drive near it and aim and toss the C4 onto the back doors from inside the tow truck. Doesn't matter where you detonate it from, just as long as you're not on foot when tossing it. The garbage truck can be destroyed just by shooting it's gas tank, then the spilled gas, and you save C4 that way.
It was also said that deleting the cfg.dat, and pc_settings.bin files in the Documents/Rosckstar Games/GTA V/Profiles/DFE3B7FD fixes the problem, but I tried that and it didn't work for me.
Another thing I noticed about Trevor btw. Some of his lines are pretty funny, so I'm trying to like the guy. I switched to Michael and tried hanging out with him. I ordered a blimp and picked him up in the middle of the street with it, wasn't impressed, other than saying "This is fun", then continuing to grate at Michael in his usual way.
I flew him all around the city, even invading the no fly zone at the airport without him getting the least bit excited. So I land it and drive him to a hangout activity. We pass a tennis court and he mentions an interest. Really Trev, you into tennis, an elitist sport? I pass on his drinking suggestion as we drive by a bar, thinking the strip club would be more to his liking, considering he wanted prostitutes, chips and dip earlier in the game.
We arrive at the strip club and even there he's still his usual grumpy self. He actually started mocking and insulting the strippers. I let one of the hotter ones, Juliet, take me back for a private dance. I accidentally went too far with the touching while trying to get her Like status as up as my, well, you know, and end up getting bounced.
I walk back in the joint just to see what would happen. A fist fight breaks out, and Trevor, instead of just fist fighting the bouncers, starts gunning them down. I decide to drive him home before the heat gets too high to handle. He says "Goodbye Michael", sounding surprisingly genuine, so I'm thinking things are cool with him.
I do a U Turn to go back to the strip club as I'm leaving and as he's crossing the street on foot shouts in an angry tone, "Are you stalking me?" I don't know, maybe I should have tried hanging out with him as Franklin. For now, hanging with Trevor is a work in progress.
I drove back to the club to see where Juliet ran off to. She ended up walking around on the sidewalk in just her thong with no top (the girls all ran out of the place when the shooting started). Later, after driving back to the club a couple times when I finally found Juliet back on shift, her Like status toward me remained where it was, almost full. So I was able to get her to invite me home with her pretty quickly
Turns out Juliet lives closest to the club of the 4 girls that invite clients home, which is probably why instead of heading back to the club when she was walking on the sidewalk, she kept heading off another way. It's the same street Franklin and Lamar live on, just on the other side of the tracks is all.
I'm getting the feeling Trevor's idea of prostitutes is fluffers. They should play Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side when they introduce Trevor as a character. It's fitting and would be a nice tribute, since Reed died recently.
LOL, forgot that one. I know a lot of people suggest killing your character 3 times, but that just wasn't acceptable to me. If I'm going to use a workaround, I want to use the one that restricts me the least. I also didn't really want to have to buy an RPG. I play these types of games via only buying weapons when I need to. It keeps me from being overpowered, and frees up more cash for other things. As expensive as some of the properties are, I want to save as much cash as I can.
Oh, btw, part of what started softening me up to Trevor and wanting to hang out with him is the Friends and Freaks mission for the old English couple that are celeb souvenir hunting. Hilarious moments.
