yep cutlass package ... looks nice the R&Y is ... like having ... a personal interior designer and running a freight service for posh clients ... (well if i had a Phoenix instead of a Taurus ... maybe )

little extra ... might not be flight sim friendly but i totally love my Roccat Tyon+Ryos TKL+ Shield Tablet with Roccat Grid ....

And it looks like yours is doing exactly what they promised. To the level where I was in a discussion on the CIG forums and actually made a small image to show them the sort of thing I wanted!

well there is a tons of SC grid on the Roccat Grid store, all free download but the extra tab beyond the 2 initial tab in the smartphone/tablet app are paid (1.10chf for me i bought 5 already but totally worth it ... hey ... my TKL doesn't have a numpad but my Grid does xD ) i noticed that i can also launch the app on a different grid on my Moto-G (2nd) and have, it seems, 2 actives grids ... but that one already does all i need

I'll need to pick up a tablet first. I'm working through a list of equipment just for SC. Got my stick last year, Now got 3 monitors, Tablet is next I think. I've already moved the saitek panel to a position under one of the monitors. It'll just be a case of converting the saitek panel brackets into a tablet mount. Knowing me It'll be a cable tie and plasticard mod!

The final goal for me has always been to have a setup that looks like this.

For tablet support one of the very early stretch goals was to have a mobile/tablet companion app and it seems from the limited information they have on it that it will have a use in and out of the game, so Roccat may not be needed when they do the app (although that's a long way off and likely one of the last things to be worked on).

It's one of the reasons I've put off buying a tablet. I'm not sure what the specs will need to be for the app. There is always an abundance of them on Gumtree as tablets are one of the free gifts you can get on some mobile phone contracts.

This game has cost me more than any other game I've owned it's turned into it's own hobby! And I don't even log onto it very often as I'm waiting for the PVE side.

As an update to a post a while ago I made talking about people editing XML files to cheat by making ships fly faster and shoot better and such - CIG have released a fix that should be putting a stop to that in a recent patch (and are now asking if people has spotted cheats in game recently to see if it has worked for all cases). For those put off by potentially cheating players this should be good news as anti-cheat is now enabled and being monitored for effectiveness

Oh and GrieverBlade - the Taurus has a "paid" upgrade from the andromeda as the original constellation was only sold in one configuration. When they released the variants the default config was set to be an andromeda for everyone. At the time there were no LTI sales anymore, so the only way to get an LTI Taurus was to upgrade from an andromeda. CIG's current upgrade system for ships forces people to have to upgrade to a more expensive ship - there's no way to upgrade to a cheaper ship as there's no support for partial refunds and such. Due to that limitation and the fact some people wanted to turn an LTI andromeda into an LTI Taurus there is a paid for upgrade that costs money to turn an expensive ship into a cheaper ship. The whole thing is messy and only exists because of limitations in the ship upgrade system. So that's why the cheaper Taurus costs andromeda owners to upgrade to.

well luckily i did get the Taurus as a standalone ship to see it in hangar

now: looking while drooling a bit at the Freelancer DUR (HURRR?) (for the fighter i decided to keep the Gladius and the 325a upon release)

i like transport i like exploration .... maybe a remnant of my past EVE online experience

MISC reliant has just been announced. Final of the 3 starter ships (the other two being an Aurora and Mustang) it's a 2-seater that basically looks like a B-wing from star wars.

You can grab one for $50 with LTI between now and 1st June. They've announced 3 variants in addition to the current jack of all trades version - a better armed skirmisher, a news reporting ship (aiming for streamers and video makers with this one), and a science/research variant. The cockpit swivels so the ship can either be a large mono-wing style ship or a B-wing version.

Ships with LTI automatically have this insurance and it will never run out (unless you commit insurance fraud by letting your friends steal them off you over and over). CIG has said ship insurance won't cost very much, but a lot of people (me included) like having LTI on ships so I know the money I gave for the ship isn't wasted if I forget to insure the ship in-game. The important ships for LTI are ones that come with expensive, high-end parts like the vanguard which comes with military spec components, as upgrade parts for ships are where the real money is, and having the parts under LTI is very useful in that case.

huhuuu i like where it's going ... well i am happy that i have a LTI (i would have took the Vanguard if i knew ... but oh well ) specially if it will be my jack of all trade starter ship

well if the in game insurance is not too high i will be fine ... in Eve Online ... i ended loosing billions of ISK due to a too high insurance (mostly on Faction/Pirate Machariel or Navy Raven/tron ) over the market price ... huhu faction issued insurance refund was calculated on the price of the normal non faction ship but for most of my PVP ship who where T2 or plain non faction i never missed to insure them (and produce them on a alt account )

currently i train a lot on the Gladius and my other ships in the hangar are 325a, Mustang Beta and Aurora LN

also CLUSTER Bi**ch i love those missile ... it's a ROM i took alongside with the Strikeforce II for testing them ... otherwise i have some Spark, Ignite, Tempest II and Dominator II in stock
when they hit : pure madness... i was chasing a Cutlass for hours who entered a FF session where everybody else including me were having fun and did only consensual fight and started to hunt down every Mustang and Aurora that where in, i did well to take the Gladius another Cutlass shot at me but "sorry it wasn't meant for you" ahahah i really love that game and where it's going lost starboard Omni VI used all the missiles and depleted the Scorp ammo but even with 1 Omni VI left i was still able to get a 5/1 kill/death ratio ... just as in Eve Online ... people can be real jerk or totally friendly and helpful


sidenote: i hate the chat system ... i end using flares or chaff every 2 minutes for nothing xD

@Iceni ... i .. could not resist ... one of my etailer did a small promo on a Saitek X55 Rhino Hotas system ... since i found a lot on it for SC and it was cheaper than the price of the X52(well ... Chris Roberts hotas on his main rig is a X52 iirc) i thought ... why not (Tuesday hopefully )

now i just have to print some reference pics or get a 10" tab to put the layout of the profile on it
also this will be my 1st hotas system tho.

You are going to love that stick. I'd advise downloading Freespace2, Star-lancer, Independence wars 2 Edge of chaos, And Warthunder. With those titles you should be set to have a good old play.

It's going to take you some time to set it up and learn to use it. And Warthunder is the platform for that as it will let you bind out all the keys. The older games will be limited on how many keys you can bind in game, But the SST software will let you bind Keyboard keys to hotas buttons, Letting you bind everything.

As for your key layout it's why you want to play the older sims. SC will have an element of the controls they use and with that you will find that the older titles will show you where to place the keys.

A great example is targeting. You need lots of targeting commands more than you would think.

From the top of my head these are typically needed.

Target reticule (in front of you)
Nearest enemy
Nearest Friendly
Cycle targets forward
Cycle targets backwards
Subsystem
Bombs/Torps
Bombers
Engines
Wing-man/Squad
Escort cycle forward
Escort cycle backwards
Escorts attacker forwards
Escorts attackers backwards

Some of those commands are your mission bread and butter, Bombs/bombers, Nearest enemy, Recticle, Subsystem, And a cycle command. Others are situational like escort and wingman commands but there always needed at some point as having to target your wingman to issue an order then get back to your main target needs to be done quickly and without breaking your flight. Freespace 2 will teach you this very quickly. It's easily the best game to play through to get an idea of how HOTAS and space sims work together.

A base reliant has the same capabilities as the aurora but comes with an extra seat, has more storage and looks bad ass. It's described as a tier 2 starter ship so is a step up over the aurora. Unfortunately it's not offered as a package at the moment so the ship doesn't come with the game. There's no way to upgrade an aurora to a reliant at the moment (it will be possible later in development to upgrade, but only when the reliant is flyable).
