Allright guys.. Since we now have the ability to get together in game... We should do it! I can find time to play at most times, so let me know. I'd like to get at least 4 or 5 people in. We can all mess around in free flight or whatever. If you want any kind of help with flying or setting things up, just let me know, I'd love to help. Just chime in on what is a good time for you. I'm in the central time zone, but I can be awake at any time. It might be fun to do a little co-op Vanduul Swarm and try to do a little teamwork! Perhaps we could try for Thursday evening?

I would like to make time to play this more. I keep defaulting to Elite because its so much easier and faster to get into and play imho. But its been a long time since I've given SC a fair shake at gaming.

Really, I don't understand the hacking/cheating in games ONE BIT. I understand why someone would want to hack into big companies and sell personal information. I might understand some stupid hacking to cause damage for political reasons or something.
But why the hell would you run around in games with some sort of speed/wall/whateverhack, when you're not really getting anything out of the game, you're going to get banned within minutes to hours, and people generally don't give a damn except for the occasional hackusation in chat (if there is any) if you're really obvious. Why would you do that?

Of course, then you have the currently popular DDoSing. So you somehow bought one week access to a botnet and decided to shut EA's servers for a few hours. What's the point? To jerk yourself off on Twitter on anonymous account? There's no rational gain in that.

I'd love to see some psychological study of some of these individuals.

After launching REC they've seen a surge in player numbers in AC which has found some issues in the server code so the MP servers are up and down a lot at the moment. They've nearly squashed all the bugs but there are still some unstable servers and issues around infinite loading for some people, so be aware that could be an issue tonight.

As far as the "hacking" goes. All it takes currently is editing an xml file or two. There's very little to no security in place currently. Even though it is easy to do, it is quite pathetic that some folks are doing it.

This is kinda cool. YouTube is experimenting with 4K @ 60 FPS and has 6 videos posted up. One of the vids is a Star Citizen fan video. The graphics are toned down in it, but it looks fantastic at 1440p or 4K at that nice smooth framerate!

I can barely afford the monitor, let alone the parts to drive it.

Happy with my 1080p upgrade from 720p earlier last year... lol. I take what I can get.

That looks awesome! Should be a lot more impressive when they move the new damage shaders over to the non-gladius ships (such as the Cutlass) and have the effects for depressurisation and such

On a side note the Vanguard ship was revealed last week and is in concept sale. It's a staggering $250 for a 2 man long range fighter, but it comes with milspec components hence the price. Fortunately I'm getting stronger when it comes to resisting buying new ships (especially Aegis ships) so I was able to hold out for 2 whole hours before buying one ;_;

On the multiplayer instability front the devs have been posting constant updates - the tl;dr of it all is they've found issues everywhere in the code and have transferred a lot of their senior engineers over to working on them. The infinite loading and failing back to the lobby issues are mostly fixed but the inability to find games at busy times will take several weeks to get fixed as there's a lot of redesign and coding needed. This, I suppose, is one of the advantages of their releasing code to us this early in development - they have found it early enough in development to be able to do a redesign without having to refactor all of the game elements.

FPS is due in a couple of weeks, and we may be seeing the Gladiator bomber and other 2 seat ships being flyable with a pilot and gunner in the next patch or so (the hacked release plan showed multi-seat fighters working with 2 seats in early April).

Oh and before I forget - if you login today your hangar will be full of fish. Happy April 1st everyone.

Just an addition on the vanguard. IIRC it has redundant systems, such as 2xpower plant, 2x shield generator. Should make it tough.

Flight is much better now, but I'd only suggest playing single player swarm or free flight until the multiplayer issues are sorted out, otherwise you'll just get frustrated at the amount of time you're spending to get in an MP game.

Due in next few weeks. Due to the server instability issues for multiplayer it could be later in April than originally planned (original leaked date was 15th April) but it should still be this month hopefully.
