I dont mind missing Sata express ports as devices using SATA Express are like unicrons or big foot. As long as Evga keeps the price of this board to a reasonable level, I think that is a really good motherboard.

I like the finish on the heatsinks but that's about it really, then again not much for micro motherboards so.

SATA Express has been all but completely passed on - it was simply too much faff (loss of SATA ports, mux complexity) for too little benefit (only 2x PCIe).

M.2 x4 or U.2 (SFF-8639) x4 is where all the fun NVMe is at, especially considering SFF-8639 cables can do both PCIe x4 and dual-ported SAS/SATA using the same connector, a godsend on machines with hotswap bays, and since there is no pin-sharing on SFF-8639 (unlike SATA Express), you only need to do some mechanical wiring to seperate the two, no muxers needed.

Nice motherboard... I like X99 Micro 2 as well.
M.2 transfer up to 32Gb/s, USB 3.1 Internal, x16 - x16 SLI with 40 lanes processors.
I look something, people in USA are capable to build X99 platform for arround 650$.
i7-5820K cost 299$ in Micro Center, X99 Micro 2, 225$, GSkill DDR4 2800 4x4 140$.
If something miss that and decide to buy i7-4790K with Maximus 7 Formula or Skylake with 8 Extreme than I have no words...
People still think that DDR4 is far more expensive... But if you compare good kits DDR3 with good DDR4 kits even faster, you will see very small difference.
In some cases DDR3 is more expensive. And 28 lanes is better than 16, 6 core and flux solder is better than 4 cores and thermal paste, Quad Channel DDR4 is better than Dual DDR3...

I don't even know exactly what SATA Express is, so I guess I won't need it, and haven't heard from anyone that a motherboard should have that connector.

It's basically a PCIe 2x connection using two SATA ports and another, third "extension" (for the sideband + RefClk) plus power. Compared to SFF-8639/U.2 or M.2, it's crap, and nobody has released a SATA Express SSD to my knowledge.
