AMD Releases Catalyst 15.8 Beta Driver

AMD released the Catalyst 15.8 Beta driver. In addition to an updated display driver, with likely support for newly launched GPUs, the Radeon R9 Nano and R9 370X, the drivers offer DirectX 12 performance optimizations for "Ashes of the Singularity," and optimizations with stability updates for "Batman: Arkham Knight." More importantly, the driver integrates Oculus 0.7 SDK, and fixes a number of game-specific bugs.

I'm glad AMD seems to have faster pacing at releasing driver but I hope they optimize more games, especially in games where they're known to be lacking such as Project CARS or ARK: Survival Evolved.

I swear, I could probably rent out my driver filtering WSUS server for profit with the amount of times I see this asked. It seriously needs to be easier to turn them off.

...I mean, I really seriously probably could. But I think MS would send an assassin/lawyer hybrid thing to kill/incarcerate me if I tried that... so not going to.

Should have used enterprise.

It's too buggy when gaming. GTA V will randomly crash when joining a mission (can't render dx11 blah blah). Killing Floor 2 also randomly C2D.

Either that or Nvidia's drivers suck.....

actually i've gotta say its Nvidia in this case. they seem to be having more issues than AMD with windows 10. Both companies have a stready stream of drivers fixing the bugs.

You'll need to go through an intentionally complex process that will require you amongst other things, to have a spare Windows Server and room for the entire windows update cache.

If you can get that far, and get through the days of downloads, it works rather well. But I can't recomend it as a practical solution, I use it for myself because I have a spare 1TB HD in my server doing nothing.

I'm seeing slightly better performance with this driver over the last It's not a huge, ~3% in Unigine Valley, but it's a gain nonetheless. Not this this is empirical but Farcry 4 feels more smooth but, it could just be placebo effect. I would be interested if anyone else is seeing a similar kind of improvement in Windows 10.

Target GPU temp? It has been available for FuryX since launch driver. I didn't know it was not available to other cards.

Too bad FuryX still locks down on HBM overclocking.

I'm guessing its been ported to non fury cards now, makes me happy.

If you want more control and privacy over Windows 10 you have to get LTSB version and remove a few things like Windows Defender, Store (in Windows 8.1 Store keeps trying to connect to WAN even when using local account and never using Store), Apps, OneDrive, Telemetry.

Windows 10 has a bad driver support, I installed GTA San Andreas and DirectX 9 (latest installer released before MS started locking DirectX to Windows version) but I could not start it because it said it was missing DirectX 9. I did this in Vmware Workstation and when I tried it on Windows 8.1 VM it worked.

I have a Windows server with lots of spare space.
Ad in the fact that its a complicated and needles solution to a simple problem, it appeals to me, got any links?

Also, how is the "target" temp different from the max temp on a 290X?

its user customisable in the CCC, basically. you can set target FPS, temps and a max fan speed. as far as 99% of users go thats more than they'd ever need.

about 80~100 fps in MadMax / 30~50 in new Metal Gear =P... (1440p / Max settings ).

Well, I was playing Farcry 4 this morning in surround to eventually be greeted by a "Your display driver stopped responding," message with FC4 having hijacked the entire screen. I manage to logout and log back in only to have FC4 not start, stupid memory violation error. There wasn't a whole lot about it on the Google and I'm frustrated that I can't keep playing it. Everything else seems to work fine though. I read some threads saying something about VC++ redistributable version mismatches and stuff that caused weird issues (like this,) on other machines but, it doesn't seem to add up. I think it's coincidence that the driver locked up at the same time that the game stopped being able to load.

Since I did upgrade from Windows 7 to 10, I wouldn't be surprised if the upgrade screwed up some stuff that is causing issues. I probably should just do a clean install and get it over with. It has been over a year anyways, so I'm about due. The interface for RSTe seems to be broken too which could be related (probably VC++ redist.) With all these automatic updates, I wouldn't be surprised if after a restart it screwed with something that was installed in Win7 before the upgrade.
