Looking for the Best Low Profile GPU for Gaming I can buy..

I have been looking @ the 750ti because the machine the GPU is going into, is a Dell Optiplex 7020/7010. Which as You may know, has no PCI power plugs, So Im forced to go Not just Low Pro, but Also, the upgrade GPU must get its power from the PCI-E x16 lane Solely.

If You know of a better card than the one in this post, please let me know.

The only NV card that's faster and may also potentially arrive in low profile form is the GTX 950, but it uses 20W more power than the 750 Ti and requires a 6-pin PCI-E as well. Not that it would be hard to use an adapter to feed the extra 20 watts, but with the extra heat generated comes noise and so on...

On the AMD side everything in this form factor uses more power and generates more heat for the same performance.

I would agree the 750 Ti is your best bet.

I believe the best LP gpu is 750ti. havent heard a more powerful than that.

the motherboard has a normal lay out? if it does what about buying a new case and PSU and then you can connect a powerful normal gpu.

yeah ive considered that, and it CAN be done...however the Dell front panel case headers are proprietary, and wont fit a standard case...which sucks, because i have a spare Corsair PSU, and I could rip it outta that SFF case, and buy a new one, but the way i look @ it, is that the PC will be outdated by the time the i5, and 8Gb's of RAM are not viable anylonger for gaming, and ill get rid of it, or make it into an HTPC.

If i DO go the other way though...I will post the process here on TPU, but for now im gonna see if this will suite the needs of my kid..if anyone has a 750ti, please let me know if you like it .

are you being sarcastic? or are you saying im mistaken? im sorry, text can be tough sometimes.im missing what your suggesting/saying. I looked around the interwebz, and found a few cases of people pulling the board, apparently, You CAN get the Power to work, but the lights, and headphone/USB are tricky from what ive read.

Yup you are right. IIRC the power LED is integrated into the power switch on these workstations though, correct? That is probably why there are four leads instead of the usual two. If you looked at the wires coming out of the back of the button, you may be able to identify which two wires were for the switch and which two were for the LED. (they are color coded fortunately)

With that figured out you could put the mobo into a different case and hook up its power LED and power switch the same way. You would need an 8-pin Dell power supply adapter for the motherboard if you were to use a different PSU too. I am guessing there are other proprietary connectors (front panel USB and audio mainly) that you may need to work around as well if you were to transplant the board.

The GTX 750 Ti is a nice entry level card for a kid at 1080p or below.

yeah exactly...I thought i saw an adapter mention...the way it requires a bit of "iffy" connecting, and such leaves me inclined to just get the Vid card, and he can make due with that till he gets a better upgrade(besides I saw video on youtube of the 750ti running GTA5 on or below 1080p @ VERY respectable Frame rates for a $100 card). I got the Optiplex BNIB from a good friend who works for a large PC company, so adding a 750ti for 125$usd wont kill me, atleast i didnt have to pay the $900 for the damn thing

Gotta choose your battles, right? I've used a GTX 750 Ti to play Witcher 3 at a mix of Medium/High details at 1080p and keep the framerate locked at 30fps pretty consistently with the game's 30fps limiter. The oddly popular Alienware Alpha includes a GTX 860M+ (just about identical to the 750 Ti) and it has been a very flexible chip for most gaming.
