On EVGA's website under the B-Stock section, there are some good deals on power supplies and graphics cards. Of particular interest to Folders, such as myself is a GTX 970 for $250.

I agree with @[Ion], those cards will work fine together. The issue is heat and power. I don't believe it's a good idea to fold on both of those cards with the psu in your system specs.

Considering the GTX 1080 and 1070 is supposed to get a paper-launch in the next week or so, I'm sure sellers are going to be trying to clear their stock of the soon-to-be-previous-gen models.

I do this joke/not-completely-a-joke for customers that ask/tell me where our towers are at work.
Customer: "I'm connected to so-and-so tower. You're on so-and-so tower right?"
Me, half-joking and lightheartedly: "I can neither confirm nor deny that, but I do have your connection pulled up here."
Now, there's two types of customers.
Customer 1: "Oh, haha! I see!"
..and..
Customer 2: "I'M TELLING YOU I'M CONNECTED TO THAT TOWER"

I've a 1080 TI working with a 450w Corsair RM PSU at the moment with a 1700X... Seems to be doing OK

Weeeellll, I like to double up on crunchers per box. Two 1080 ti would push a 550 pretty hard, even without an i7 on a BOINC load. Currently have two teams: 1070 ti + 2060 Super led by an 11700K and a 5600 XT + RX 470 pair hooked to a 10700K. The NV cards and CPUs are running with reduced power limits to variously keep within a 400W or so power envelope and/or not overwhelm cooling. Of the cards, only the 2060S will approach its TDP on a crunching load.

I suppose I could split the P102 up and pair them with one of the less hungry cards; 200+130+120 (P102+TU106+11700) is exactly 450W. Still closer to rated output than I'd like for extended operation.

atm i have an MSI 700W gold PSU and was thinking of bringing the hx50 and P102 on the same system. The card was seen by the system from the first boot. You must have another nvidia card in the system, otherwise, nv driver won't install.

Its definitely a good option and worth to do. I found it a right pain when one card would finish and the other would still have 4 or 5 hours or more left to go... I'd always try and get them to finish at the same time, never worked... I'd get an hour unit, then three, and I'd then think, just one more.... 6 hours later.......

That rig is meant to have a PSU upgrade, I'm toying with using a 650w in there but I'm not sure about them.. Might just grab a 850w Seasonic I have and put that in... I really need to get myself in gear and get some PSUs moved about into the right boxes....

I always have done the power limit way as I think it saves the cards and the power bill as well for not much extra loss in performance. Bit different if the cards are water cooled I think but with air cooled ones, I'd like them as cool as possible Especially when I'd like to leave them on for hours on end...

When solar runs out and doesn't produce, it will cost me a massive amount of money to keep things running.... Over here electric and gas isn't cheap
