After skipping Intel's X99 Express platform, ECS is back to enthusiast-focused board products using Intel's Z170. The ECS Z170-CLAYMORE is a weapon built for today's gamer arsenal, carrying Realtek's latest "Dragon" LAN controller not seen on these pages before.

Nice review as always, but I do have a correction suggestion:

Article said:
With 10 ports in total (six USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, and two USB 3.1)

Looking at the photos, shouldn't that be 4xUSB2, 4xUSB3 and 2xUSB3.1 ?

Not that bad of a board for the price, but not the best out there either...

I guess they used it so that their software runs on both Win7 and Win10, but it's a real cheap way to save a few bucks.

3.5 I believe goes back to Vista. Windows 7-10 use 4.# which is the same lineage (security updates should have all Windows 7 computers running 4.6 by now).

I didn't know ECS was still around.

Looks great when compared with those all-looking-the-same "gaming" motherboards since this clearly has some of that classic ECS look on it. :)

I find it hilarious that they are trying to get in the 'in crowd' by pasting the word L337 on their board. I guess 'OMG SO MLG' and '360 Noscope' Is printed on the underside of the PCB somewhere and a remix of snoop doggs 'smoke weed everyday' plays for 30 seconds when you hit the power button to boot the system up.

::EDIT::

and also.... No SLi Support??? Alrighty then.

Looking at the dedicated GPU marketshare not including SLI seems pretty damned daft to me. Most people don't go multi I know, but now they don't even have the option.

yeah they do actually - According to ECS, the board supports crossfire.

The only caveat being if that you have to get rid of your Nvidia card and buy an AMD card if you are running one.

45 seconds post time? Lol.
I can easily start up and shutdown my pc twice in that time (gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H + windows 10 x64)..

Oh well, you can't even buy ECS in Benelux so I don't care much.

The board does not allow manual voltage adjustments for the CPU unfortunately and will automatically adjust itself depending on the CPU speed you set. Also, the stock voltage for the CPU in stock form is pretty high.

I'll assume that it was your email I got, and unfortunately when I tried to reply your server denied it. I ahd no such problems, but it isn't very promising to hear you had problems.

That is quite peculiar since my server is based on Gmail.
