At the Virtual Reality Los Angeles (VRLA) event, AMD along with a few gaming PC manufacturers demonstrated their desktop builds featuring the company's upcoming dual-GPU graphics card driven by a pair of "Fiji" GPUs. Among the desktops demoed include a prototype Falcon Northwest Tiki compact gaming desktop with a dual-Fiji graphics card, and HTC Vive HMD. Falcon Northwest commented that the dual-GPU "Fiji" graphics card is small enough to squeeze into its 4-inch thick Tiki, indicating that the card will be super-compact. AMD is expected to launch the dual-GPU "Fiji" graphics card some time in Q2 2016.

So basically the card will be lunched side by side with Pascal. What about Polaris? If Pascal becomes available at the same time with this card the dual Fiji will be a disaster to AMD because Pascal and Polaris on paper are equivalent to dual Fiji without the crossfire X problems and with 14/16 nm they will consume power equal to single Fiji. So it's a make it or break it matter to AMD and they have small time window to sell this card until Pascal /Polaris Lunch time.

The real reason why it was postponed is that they are postponing polaris for whatever reasons and this just sucks.

The first PIC shows a blower style cooler. On its side as well, so using a PCI-e riser, which would make it easier to fit in the case.
Surely that isn't the dual card though? Dual GPU with blower fan? Need to see more.

Window is small but maybe only low end cards come out first then I don't see a problem.

AMD release of something Polaris = End of Q2/Start of Q3 time frame
Nvidia release of something Pascal so far = Q4 with Drive PX

First pic is a reference to the Radeon powered Tiki. It was a prize give away at the show.
Second pic is the one with the dual fiji

so far AMD has not said that Polaris will be that much more powerful at all than Fiji (just that is massively less power-hungry for same performance). So even when they launch mid and lower highend and even highend single GPU Polaris (with massive energy savings) at the same time than dual-Fiji GPU, the dual-Fiji would still be the beast until they release dual-Polaris GPU-s at some point.

I mean... as long as single-Polaris is not x2 performance (forget here watts, just pure horsepower and FPS; and I don't see this happening) than single-Fiji, the dual-Fiji will be more powerful than any single-Polaris GPU ever released. So I don't even see any problem with launching them at the same day.

It all comes down to how many PCIe slots you can spend. Will you be building ITX with only 1 PCIe slot total? If you have 2 slots... then 2x dual-Fiji surely is more powerful than 2x single-Polaris.
And if you want just more horsepower VS spend less in the long run (electricity bills) and have HDR (10bit/channel colors) and all the other new stuff Polaris will hopefully bring to table.

So, the GTX 9xx and R9 Fury X all over again. AMD lagging behind badly.

Don't you mean Titan Z $2,999 vs R9 285x2 $1,499

With the recent price drops of the Nano it could be a $1,299-$1,499 price tag for a Fiji x2

I wonder why anyone think that Pascal won't lunch until the end of 2016. The design has completed since 2013/2014, the 16 nm has matured and thanks to Apple TSMC lost most of 16nm customers and Apple reduced the orders due to slow demands on iPhone so the fab has alot of space and finally Samsung started mass producing the HBM2 with nVidia as only customer for 2016. So why should nVidia delays Pascal until Q4 2016?

Has it ever promised or even hinted at HBM2 Pascal earlier than that_

Most plauseable reason for fiji x2 delay was the whole cooler master patent fiasco that since AMD uses cooler master for their cooler. Well if they were forced to stop selling them would create a problem for AMD tring to launch a new card when they got no cooler to put on it. Polaris even if AMD demo'ed the chip, its still in prototype testing phase, it only got taped out what 2 months ago? So most people know can't rush a new proc node since don't want some hidden major flaw to creep in to their retail cards and pretty much end the company.

Not sure how that rumor started though likely started by someone from the red camp to create some negitive PR. Pascal was reported to been taped out like 7 months ago now? how would it not launch for ~9 more months?

Without visiting WCCFtech, I can't be sure but from the article, I'm not getting any performance info. Was there a demo running or what have you?
In fact, without relevant specs its hard to just take AMD's word that the double Fiji card was actually running.
We know Nvidia often showcase new 'prototypes' using older versions, as has AMD. So seeing just a case without any other info is actually a big bit 'meh'.

I mean, c'mon, its a dual Fiji and we know what Fiji can do, so why not demo it? And not in a closed room full of adoring acolytes.

Polaris, yes, I understand we need to wait but dual Fiji? No. Gimme now.

Well at least its coming...Will be nice to finally get a chance to see one as I had a very compact build coming up that the card may fit in nicely depending on its full specs (Power, size, etc).

Yep, they definitely need something "new" to create some extra sales numbers before they release their pitbulls in Q3 (I'm thinking). But it's nice to have options I always say.

Typical TSMC yields are a good reason for a "late" Pascal launch.

TSMC "OMG guys, we hit 50%, yay"

AMD and Nvidia "stfu assholes, you SUCK!"

You don't have to take AMDs word for it.

It was Falcon Northwest announcing it via Twitter which got the attention.

Meh.

PR. 4" wide but how long?*

The Tiki on their website is using a 980ti (for now). Advertised with a 980ti or a Titan X. In fact, in the configurator it's currently only Nvidia cards... Given the compact space inside the case, I can't see how it's got water in there. I think the dual fiji may be rocking air cooling.

Well, at least the dual Fiji card will become the most powerful Tiki build. There's no way Nvidia can match a Fiji PCB size using GDDR5. Given the sheer deafening silence about a dual Maxwell part, I figure they aren't evening coming to the fight this time after Titan Z and it's preposterous pricing nature.

But you have to wonder, a dual card in a Tiki size build with a Skylake. It'd be interesting to see the cooling and how noisy it may get.

* that's not meant to sound rude.

I believe they could mount the radiator inside on the fan out if its thin enough (Both the card and cooler). They Tiki fit the hefty GTX Titan-Z so I would believe its possible though it may also be a modified version that has another air spot or something. But who knows honestly, if it did it might be an interesting idea if its quiet enough though I would find it funny that Fury X is Liquid and FuryX2 is air.

I read some reviews - actually is quiet even with a reference Titan X gaming. Though dual Fiji will consume a bit more power so a bit more chip heat to get rid of. The cpu is water cooled.

Nice system if a little expensive but hey - size of an XBone give or take with as much as an X99 system and a high end gfx card.
