With the traffic already on this review, would it be premature of me to suggest there be an OFFICIAL Rise of the Tomb Raider thread?

indeed.
and it recommends only most acctual review, doesnt show older reviews or something else from npu.
if you open older reviews it recommends only the most resent review and nothing else from game reviews section.
a link to the analysis embeded into the text of the review (somewhere in video settings section or in conlusion part) or at the end of the text would be handy. as it is now it takes some clicks to make it to analysis.

edit: hmm if you open anything from npu feed suggested for you shows only TR review (may be cause it is last top story entry). it doesnt change content of suggested in context of what are you looking atm

The tombs in this new game is much better than the 2013 game, still easy because you can use survival instinct but in term of puzzle variation and length it's definitely better.

Played for 15.5 hours and I think I just reached the mid-game.
I love killing bear over and over again (yes, the fauna and resources will respawn/regenerate after sometime or if you levae the area and come back again), it's fun :D

Please go for it if you have time. I will be waiting. I am not convinced with the season pass contents but who knows, you changed my opinion and killed my doubts about the game, you might be able to convince me to get the season pass.

Assuming the contents are really interesting and worth every Yen, that is.

4k maxed settings. Turned off AA completely. Hold steady 60fps for me. If you are running an SLI rig like me for this game you need to get the SLI fix using Nvidia Inspector that fixes the scaling. Just FYI. Otherwise your GPU usage will be absolutely trash. I have 99% usage on my 980tis clocked to 1400mhz. At pretty much all times.

Hey did you notice near the beginning of the game when you have to go fight the bear again, the Trinity guys you can either sneak by or fight, did you notice that they have some sort of like hilographic lines on them? Or is my stuff just artifacting?

I didn't notice anything, mainly because I put an arrow through their mouths and looted them without paying attention (I was too busy spamming 'Q' for hidden treasure).

It might also be a placebo but the game doesn't look as good with their new nvidia drivers.

Well, tried to get a new crafting ability, and went to hit continue after I got it, and it does nothing. Spam continue as much as I want and the little blurb that talks about the new ability just stays there. wtf. Also new nvidia drivers suck for the game. I get wierd little clothing artifacts (On some clothing)

Press Enter, don't click the Continue button, I guess it's a bug.

No clothing artifact in my game with latest NVIDIA driver.

Finished the game with 100% completion on second hardest difficulty (Seasoned Raider) in 34 hours gameplay, overall I'm satisfied.

New patch released!

We have just released the first PC patch for Rise of the Tomb Raider, build 1.0.610.1. This patch focusses on critical issues users ran into immediately following release, as well as minor updates based on user feedback which we could get in quickly.

This patch will be applied by Steam or Windows automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client or manually look for updates in the Windows Store.

Startup issues (Steam Only):
  • Fixed C++ runtime error showing up on startup preventing some users from running the game.
  • Provided work-around for issue where the VC++ redist would not properly get installed, stopping the game from starting at all.
  • Solved problem where the game would crash on startup when tools like Bins Taskbar organizer or Spacedesk are installed.
Updated options screen with among other things:
  • Independent mouse sensitivity control for aim and regular navigation.
  • Mouse and Gamepad X axis inversion
  • Option to disable keyboard button prompts.
  • Option to disable mouse smoothing (very light mouse smoothing is present otherwise)
Other fixes included in this patch:
  • A variety of fixes and improvements to UI including map, basecamps, and Remnant Resistance mode.
  • New graphics option 'Specular Reflection Quality' to enhance resolution and reduce aliasing of specular reflections, at some performance cost.
  • New graphics option to disable film-grain independently from 'Screen Effects'.
  • Improved HBAO+ quality, including better occlusion for distant objects.
  • Improved NVIDIA SLI performance. (Steam only)
  • Fixed SLI glitches during water/snow effects. (Steam only)
  • Resolution Modifier option that allows you to use a lower rendering resolution independent from window size when running in windowed mode.
  • Performance optimization for situations where Razer Chroma features are enabled. (Steam Only)
  • Improvements to Razer Chroma effects. (Steam Only)
  • Fixed an issue that could rarely lead to an error on machines with 16 hardware threads or more.
  • Fixed mouse cursor not always being hidden when using gamepad.
  • Fixed major stuttering in Endurance mode.
  • Fixes for Endurance leaderboards.
  • Fixed Remnant Resistance missions occasionally not starting.
  • Fixed rendering glitches on some objects on NVIDIA 6x0 and 7x0 hardware. Some issue do still happen and we are working with NVIDIA to resolve those in future patches or drivers.
  • Warning messages for users turning textures to Very High or enabling SSAA to indicate high-end hardware is required.
  • A variety of other smaller optimizations, bug-fixes, and tweaks.

While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version we have made a Beta available on Steam, Build 604.2, that can be used to switch back to the previous version.

I really cant get over this game. I absolutely love it. I came to a realization today, I like most of squares games honestly. and TR is one of them. i have played them all, with that said. Today I realized one of the things I am most fond of is that fact that there is virtually no hud. Sure the rounds left will pop up for a second if your shooting or reloading. After any action that triggers it however it simply fades away. I cant get enough of it. I am also a stickler for details and while the engine itself could use some polish I love what they are doing as far as eye catchers. For example I simply cannot handle how Laura wrings our her pony tail after getting wet. Whoever threw that in should get a bottle on me.
