Logitech G Unveils Two Cherry Mechanical Gaming Keyboards

Logitech today announced the expansion of its mechanical gaming keyboard lineup with the Logitech G610 Orion Brown and the Logitech G610 Orion Red. Both products feature Cherry MX mechanical switches, as well as customizable bright white LED key backlighting and dedicated media controls. These full-size mechanical gaming keyboards integrate industry-leading technology and quality of construction in a uniquely crafted design to deliver peak performance for a pure gaming experience.

Cherry MX Key Switches
The Logitech G610 Orion Brown and the Logitech G610 Orion Red feature Cherry MX mechanical switches, which are the industry standard in mechanical keyboards. Cherry MX switches are rated over 50 million keystrokes and actuate precisely for a reliable gaming experience. Low-noise Cherry MX Brown switches have a tactile bump for feedback while you type, while low-noise Cherry MX Red switches have a linear keypress for rapid-fire actuation.

Customizable LED Backlighting
Use Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) to select and personalize brightness for each key to match your style, system or environment, or set lighting to sleep when you aren't using the system. Looks nice, not to flashy and functional with 4 multimedia keys.

BUT the way the keys are labeled is annoying for those that use the "altgr" key (in Scandinavian versions it is situated left of the space key). This because "altgr" gives the 3rd functions to things like the numbers row, (the @ sign is "altgr" + "2")

normally it is no modifier at the bottom, "shift" modifier top left and "altgr" modifier top right, here it is

The reason is because the cherry switches has the led at the top of the key, and therefore only lights up the top half of the key, Corsair has transparent hosing giving an more even light distribution for the key.

I wish these came with an USB port and a headset jack like my cheap keyboard does. They're both incredibly useful and can't cost more than $10, because that about what I paid for the keyboard.

This means that when LGS is not running, LED rainbow effect is active (while booting, shutting down etc).

From the sound of it, these are just standard white backlighting, no effects. So no need for onboard memory. You can customize the intensity of each key, but I don't think it's going to bother much if they all go to 100% for the short time the computer is booting/shutting down.

Well, white LED would be perfect. I don't need RBG lightning, but I need proper white, which not many RBG can do anyway, it's more like yellow'ish or semi-blue.
Looking forward to hear more about these..

I think RGB KB makers should consider adding a white LED.

For the record, all "white LEDs" are actually blue LEDs with a coat of yellow phosphor on the emitter. Which is why they tend to have either a slightly bluish or yellowish tint.

Some RGB LEDs also include a fourth "white" emitter, which is the same kind as described above, so the LED will draw less current when setup to emit white light, but the same issue will arise. Mixing red, green and blue light generally produce better results, provided the backlight regulation on the keyboard is precise enough. Which is apparently not always the case.

Even I would like to see RGBW Led instead of simple RGB which makes white look like blue tint. Not too nice looking when co-ordinating with white build. I already got CM Quickfire xti because of the issues with those white colours on Corsair RGB keyboards.

I love my G710+ white LEDs. RGB I could care less for.

Glad they did away with the macro keys as that's something I never use. Nice clean design on these. Only wished they made the symbols on the number keys on upper half of the key or on the same level as the numbers so the LEDs are evenly lit like on the new Ducky keyboards.

Finally Logitech show up with interesting mechanical keyboard.
I love Logitech, I had many their products during year and all of them were nice and without bugs...
I had from 30$ keyboards and mouse to most expensive products and never had problem with them.
Their build quality is nice, but that's not end as Razor example.
But they should design and TKL version because they will be more and more popular.
This version is better for me than RGB 810... But as mine Deck 87 Francium Pro.
I hope people will be satisfied with Logi... This would be one of option for upgade before 3-4 months.
But Cherry Brown PBT keys sound different better than ABS, little louder and just little closer to Cherry MX Blue.
Nicest keyboard from Logitech for now, or at least nicest Loigitech mechanical keyboard.

I avoid logitech products like a plague these days due to terrible service and quality, I know a lot of people on this forum have similar feelings about Razer products. So for me when getting new peripherals the only choice were Corsair or CM, here in India Corsair is overpriced and lacks proper service centres. So pulled the plug on CM peripherals. These logitech keyboards are not cheap by any stretch, for 110$ you can get Corsair's Strafe RGB or if you want white led backlit version then CM Quickfire Rapid for 99$.

I avoid logitech products like a plague these days due to terrible service and quality, I know a lot of people on this forum have similar feelings about Razer products. So for me when getting new peripherals the only choice were Corsair or CM, here in India Corsair is overpriced and lacks proper service centres. So pulled the plug on CM peripherals. These logitech keyboards are not cheap by any stretch, for 110$ you can get Corsair's Strafe RGB or if you want white led backlit version then CM Quickfire Rapid for 99$.

There are much better keyboards than CM and CORSAIR. I would not buy today nothing except classic 87 keys keyboards. Now is even 60 keys closer to me than full but F keys are welcomed sometimes.
Example Filco, WASD Code, Deck, on CORSAIR keyboard if some LED die you can throw in garbage. Most people buy them because RGB and software...
Good keyboard is good and completely without LEDs. I insist on at least one LED but I keep on my keyboard off LED and only switch I press shine on second.
But it's completely different feeling typing on PBT keys. Browns are little more louder than Brown ABS because heavier and thicker keys.
This little keyboard cost as CORSAIR K70 RGB and many teens or kids will not like, but quality is visible immediately and such keyboards serve you long time.

LED should be only one little plus. 90% of typind time I don't look in keyboard at all and more and more understand people with stealth keyboard without LEDs.

K740 can show proper white, and it's pretty good, except for gaming. You can't press multiple keys. Example: You're playing a fps. Sprinting forward, W and SHIFT is pressed down. Now you can't jump because it will not register it. Logitech is aware of this and recommends their gaming series. If this was not an issue, I would be using K740, it's a very good keyboard.

Corsair Strafe can't show proper white and I don't want a TKL. Besides that, CM have had (still has?) serious issues with their mechanical LED keyboards, the LEDs die.

Logitech is quality if you ask me. I'm opening alot of Logitech products because we use them at work, and I never see any issues with them. We're talking about several hundreds of keyboards and mice over the years and not a single defect.

Yes, one of nicest CM mechanical keyboard Rapid-I have huge problem with LED. I was interest for that model before some time. I even ask CM maybe is on market some different revision with new LEDs but they didn't answer and even they didn't deny LED problem.

I had around 6-7 keyboards I like and than I easy remove one buy one... last 3 was Cherry MX Board 6.0, CORSAIR K70 non RGB and Deck Hassium Pro.
Than I made... now I see best decision to go with TKL and Francium PRO win. If someone ask me now I would go even with 60 keys rather than full.

When I decide what to buy I had few option to order Deck 87 Francium Pro from Asian sites with Orange, White or Blue LED and ABS keys where LED is better visible buy keys less quality. ...

Or version with only White or Blue LED from USA with Double Shot PBT keys and their famous fonts as most people don't like.

Off course that's for me one of nicest fonts and I use similar many time in different signatures and PBT keycaps are more important for me than shine LED.
But Cherry MX Brown PBT sound little different than Cherry MX Brown ABS, it's little louder and you have real impression of mechanical keyboard.
Not clicky as Blue, but you hear nice cik-cik-cik...because material is different. ABS is light almost as some rubber and you have less impression of mechanical keyboard.
Simply because PBT is harder and harder to find, special translucent and compatible with different version of keyboards. And I want something from period where people made things much better than today. Keyboard with shine LED and ABS keys you can find always and soon maybe that would be only available keys.

It's nice because they install Cherry MX Switches, but as you say they should launch this keyboard before 3 years.
But they continue to make revisions of G510, G19 and similar model. I bought G510 2010. That was new keyboard than and they had success next 2 years, in mean time customers start to search something else and they didn't recognize that. Because nice experience with Logitech and because history of that company before 2 years I would bought this keyboard, not RGB version and only with Cherry MX switches, not other mechanical. But in mean time my taste is changed and I start to search for smaller keyboards.
But before 2-3 years I would not listen other customers at all and what they say, only what reviews say about bugs and issue, but I think that would be OK and I would upgrade G510 > G610. Now I would never back on full keyboard any more. I bought G510 2010 and G700 mouse 2010, bought of them still work only keyboard is not usable any more because it's old. But she work, all softwares work without bug, all problems are mechanical because long use, nothing else. G700 work but last few months only connected with wire, not any more as wireless.
And for mouse I look Logitech models as well. Maybe some MX Performance, MX Master, they will fit nice with my keyboard.
I will read about them and decide.
I believe that Logitech G700s is maybe one of best mouse today, but it's uglier than G700 and I would like some other version.

Logitech G610 is available on Newegg for 119$... price is OK.
